Park City Community Foundation (the Community Foundation) identifies gaps and issues and then works in partnership with the community to address greater Park City’s most pressing needs. The organization brings together local nonprofits, political and business leaders, caring donors, and community members to contribute both financial resources and innovative ideas that affect lasting change. Since its inception in 2007, the Community Foundation has had a cumulative impact of over $49 million through grantmaking, programming, and its annual giving day, Live PC Give PC.


The Position
Park City Community Foundation is seeking a skilled, passionate, and collaborative Vice President of Development to lead the efforts for all development activities at the Community Foundation. They will serve as an organization and community leader who engages donors, community members, and key stakeholders for the benefit of the Park City Community Foundation’s mission. Reporting to the CEO, this role is a key leadership position, engaged in elevating the vision of the Community Foundation and securing resources to further the innovative work of the organization. Driven by a passion for relationships and impact, they will appreciate the intricacies of a complex community foundation and will lead the organization in achieving and exceeding ambitious goals. Alongside a small but mighty development team of three savvy professionals and a robust Development Committee, they will set the strategy for all fundraising activities.

Role & Responsibilities

Fundraising

  • Support the organization’s priorities by using a community-centered fundraising approach to work with donors and community leaders to contribute financial resources and innovative ideas.
  • Create and implement an annual strategic fundraising plan that supports the organization’s vision and includes individual giving, annual fundraising, corporate giving, major gifts, donor advised funds, and legacy giving.
  • Serve as major gifts lead, with an annual goal of over $5M in direct and indirect resources.
  • Maintain a portfolio of donors through the donor cycle of identifying, qualifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding donors inclusive of individual and institutional donors.
  • Collaborate with the CEO to refine donor strategies and ensure key donor relationships are managed.
  • Inspires donors, partners, and the community to action through impassioned and eloquent storytelling and serving as a key spokesperson for the Community Foundation.
  • Provide leadership and work in collaboration with an engaged Development Committee.
  • Oversee gift processing through policies, systems, and procedures built on ethical standards for soliciting and reporting.
  • Utilize data to drive decision-making, create donor segmentation and, in collaboration with VP of Finance, enhance predictive financial modeling for the organization.
  • In coordination with staff members and the Development Committee, carry out donor meetings, cultivation activities, and special donor events including Live PC Give PC, the annual giving day in Park City.
  • Partner with the VP of Communications to regularly communicate with donors and community members.
  • Identify and implement opportunities for donor recognition, stewardship, and appreciation.

 

Leadership

  • Establish and model the mindsets and behaviors indicative of a collaborative, inclusive, and high-performing organization that builds a culture of belonging and philanthropy amongst staff and board.
  • Provide leadership that supports the professional growth of the experienced, three-person Development team.
  • Partner with staff and board to set and achieve fundraising goals, make connections, and cultivate relationships.
  • Collaborate with the Vice President of Finance to develop and implement financial strategy through the creation, approval, and implementation of ambitious yet reasonable budgets.
  • Monitor progress against the organization’s annual and strategic plans, providing regular updates and analysis on unrestricted and restricted revenue sources.
  • Provide fundraising leadership to the Board of Directors, including attending board meetings, facilitating board trainings, leading the development committee, preparing and giving reports, managing board giving, and identifying opportunities for volunteer leadership to participate in networking and fundraising activities.

Additional Skillset and Attributes

  • Five years+ of leadership experience managing development teams and partnering with the CEO to achieve impact.
  • Proven record of closing gifts above $100,000 and managing a portfolio of donors.
  • Demonstrated success in developing and managing relationships with donors, board members, corporate supporters, and community members.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to articulate and align mission, vision, and values to donors and donor prospects.
  • Commitment to Park City Community Foundation’s Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion goals and willingness to participate in shared learning activities offered by the Community Foundation.
  • The maturity, integrity, professionalism, and experience to earn the trust and confidence of your team, other staff, donors, board leadership, and community partners.
  • Knowledge of nonprofit governance and experience working with, or on, boards.
  • Experience using donor databases for donor tracking and research.
  • Strong financial acumen with ability to develop and manage budgets. 
  • Strategic thinker who sees the big picture and can also operate in the details.
  • Proven skills to support a great team, set an example, and mentor others.
  • Strong project management skills with ability to delegate, meet deadlines, and follow through.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

 

Compensation and Benefits

The salary range for this full-time, exempt position is $100,000-$115,000. Park City Community Foundation provides a wide range of benefits to its employees including a hybrid work environment, self-managed paid time off, paid Family Medical Leave, flextime, 401k, 100% coverage of silver-level health benefits plan, and a generous HSA contribution.  Relocation resources may also be provided.
