ICA is seeking a Director of Programs to help ICA on its mission of closing the racial and gender wealth gaps by ensuring the operational success and mission alignment of ICA’s programmatic offering across the 9 county Bay Area. The Director of Programs is a critically important leader at ICA responsible for managing the members of the programs team, overseeing the continued integration of a new shared activities offering of the programs and investment team, and ensuring the team is resourced to meet the organizations short- and long-term goals. The position is based in Oakland, CA with hybrid in-office, Tuedsays and Thursdays and remote work. This position reports to the Chief Programs and Strategic Initiatives Officer.

THE ROLE

Reporting directly to the Chief Program and Strategic Initiatives Officer you will manage a highly effective team while managing and overseeing the full programs budget and set strategy for the team to build pipeline and tailor programs to meet the needs of our small business community.  Ultimately, this cross functional role is responsible for meeting and/or exceeding organizational, funder, and impact goals across all programs.

 

PROGRAM STRATEGY AND MANAGEMENT

  • Develops and leads strategy for deepening ICA’s support and impact across all programs and geographic focus areas within the 9-county Bay Area (i.e. Silicon Valley), short and long term
  • Leads the continued integration of the shared activities of the programs and investment team, ensuring communication, workflows, and feedback loops are aligned
  • Leads the integration and coordination with the Marketing department to ensure all shared goals, activities, and workflows to market all programs and offerings are aligned
  • Leads the development and execution of the integrated programs delivery calendar and operational plan, working closely with each program manager
  • Develops, allocates, manages, and tracks yearly budget and goals, working closely with each program manager
  • Leads strategy and oversees tactical execution of pipeline development ensuring a viable and diverse pipeline of small businesses that are a good fit for all of ICA’s integrated programming and investment pipelines
  • Leads yearly programmatic goal setting that aligns with ICA 5-year growth vision, strategic initiatives, and funder commitments
  • Oversees daily operations of entrepreneur all programming, ensuring high quality program delivery and managing all resources requests and needs
  • Participates in selection of cohort companies, working collaboratively with the programs and investment team
  • Participates in the vetting of potential ICA investment companies, in collaboration with the programs and investment teams

 

LEADERSHIP + TEAM MANAGEMENT

  • Manages, develops, and supports direct reports to ensure they are equipped to:
    • meet and/or exceed annual goals
    • deliver high quality programming and events
    • develop a viable and diverse small business pipeline
    • grow professionally
    • enjoy their job and participate and reflect ICAs culture
  • Supports programs team to further develop ideas, program curriculum, and outreach strategies that align with team, organizational, and funder goals
  • Leads program reporting for board meetings + calls and provides regular key updates on programs and funding implications to Chief Program Officer
  • Leads programs data gathering, dissemination, and integration across the programs, investment, and impact teams.
  • Supports with meeting organizational fundraising goal and funder stewardship by clearly and effectively communicating programs strategy, collaborating with the management team, attending funder meetings, and supporting with funder proposals and reporting.

WHAT YOU BRING

  • 3+ years of program or product management, design, and/or development
  • 2+ years of direct supervisory experience
  • Experience in an entrepreneurial business environment, working in or supporting underrepresented founders
  • Experience in start-up or small business support models - accelerators, alumni network support, incubators, and/or consulting program models
  • Experience overseeing complex projects and excellent project management skills.
  • Energetic, forward thinking and creative with high ethical standards.
  • Solutions oriented with demonstrated high performance and agility during rapidly changing priorities
  • Excellent ability to manage IT systems, tracking and reporting, and Google Docs preferred

 

OUR OFFER AND COMMITMENT

The annual base salary range for this position is $100,000 to $115,000 dependent upon background and experience; plus an annual bonus depending on performance.
