Job Description
TITLE: President
SUMMARY DESCRIPTION: Responsible for overseeing all operational, strategic, and fund-raising aspects of the Army Heritage Center Foundation. Reports directly to the Board of Directors, particularly the Board Chair.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provides direction and leadership for the achievement of the Foundation’s mission, goals, and objectives.
- Responsible for the identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of donors.
- Directs the Foundation’s internal operations, including personnel management, financial processes, records management, and other office functions as required.
- Develops, for Board approval, the annual budget and strategic plan and administers the Foundation’s programs within the approved budget.
- Serves as the day-to-day spokesperson for the Foundation.
- Supports the work of the Board and Foundation Committees and maintains timely communication with the Board.
- Oversees the programs and staff of the Foundation and establishes rules and procedures for the effective operation of the Foundation.
- Fosters a positive working relationship with the U.S. Army Heritage and Education Center and U.S. Army War College leadership and other Army organizations as necessary.
- Performs other duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- A bachelor’s degree required; Master’s or Doctorate degree preferred.
- Senior nonprofit management experience.
- Demonstrated fundraising experience.
- High level strategic thinking and planning.
- Ability to envision and convey the organization’s strategic future to the staff, board, volunteers, and donors.
- A history of successfully generating new revenue streams and improving financial results.
- Strong financial management skills, including budget preparation, analysis, decision making, and reporting.
- Love of history
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Position is salaried, full-time, and exempt.
- Work is normally performed in an interior/office work environment.
- Frequent overnight travel is required within region and nationally.
- Must have personal transportation and travel using commercial transportation.
- Must be able to remain in stationary position for up to an hour.
- Needs to move inside and outside the office and occasionally traverse exterior surfaces.
- Occasionally lift 15 lbs. or more.
- Frequently operate a computer and other office productivity machinery and possess the ability to observe details at close range.
- Must be able to communicate information and ideas so others will understand and exchange accurate information in these situations.
- Must be willing to submit to background check and reference review.
- Pennsylvania is an “employment-at-will” state and Pennsylvania employment laws are applicable.
- Outside employment with the approval of the Foundation Board Chair.
