Chief Executive Officer – Rodale Institute – Kutztown, PA
WittKieffer is honored to partner with the Rodale Institute on their search for a distinguished executive to serve as its next Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Rodale Institute seeks a visionary leader who will continue its vital work of transforming the food system in America by empowering farmers to transition to regenerative organic agriculture. The CEO will have the opportunity to guide the continued rapid growth and impact of the Institute.
This is a unique opportunity for an accomplished leader to step into the CEO role for an organization universally recognized for its visionary leadership, collaborative approaches and best-in-class research and education. In conjunction with the Board and senior staff, the CEO will develop and refine Rodale Institute's objectives in the context of the existing strategic plan and ensure that program goals, fundraising initiatives and financial sustainability are aligned while raising the visibility and awareness of the Institute as a global leader of regenerative organic agriculture research.
Since its founding in 1947, the Rodale Institute has taken the lead in developing a better, natural, and more responsible way of modern farming by conducting research into the cultivation of healthy, living soils. From the very beginning, Founder J.I. Rodale knew that farming practices focused on cultivating healthy soil would lead to healthier foods and, ultimately, healthier people. Since then, the Institute has made breakthrough after breakthrough. Today, the Rodale Institute is a multi-million dollar, international organization with nearly 100 staff, thousands of volunteers and partners, seven locations and several partner organizations around the globe. The main campus is on 386 certified organic acres in Kutztown, Pennsylvania.
The next CEO will have a significant opportunity over the next decade to lead at the national level and influence globally. They will be at the helm through the Rodale Institute's continued growth, including leading a strategic plan and helping complete the Institute's first capital campaign. This role is designed for a mission-oriented, exceptional servant leader who can manage the complexity of a $19 million international organization while having the vision and drive to leverage one of the world's most prominent nonprofits dedicated to growing the regenerative organic agriculture movement through rigorous research, farmer training, and education.
