The President will provide strategic leadership, vision, and operations oversight to the International Biomedical Research Alliance in support of its mission, goals, and programs.  The successful candidate will have a proven record in fundraising and in developing new partnerships and play a critical role in increasing sustainability and growth of the organization.

The International Biomedical Research Alliance is a 501(c)(3) organization whose mission is to invest in and accelerate the development of the most promising future leaders in biomedical research with global impact through a unique international doctoral training model – the NIH Oxford-Cambridge Scholars Program – in support of the National Institutes of Health and the Universities of Oxford and Cambridge.  Learn more about the organization by visiting International Biomedical Research Alliance

Key responsibilities will be to:

  • Develop and execute a five year strategy based on the vision and mission of the organization
  • Formulate a resource development strategy with the Development & Finance Committee
  • Develop and cultivate relationships with target individuals and organizations for partnership and fundraising
  • Raise the visibility of the organization with key constituencies
  • Manage and provide oversight for the organization’s website and social media platforms
  • Communicate regularly and work closely with the Chair of the Board of Directors and subcommittee Chairs on all aspects of strategy, resource development, administration and operations
  • Serve as a representative of the Board of Directors at the NIH and liaison with the NIH Oxford-Cambridge Scholars Program administration and Executive Committee
  • In collaboration with the Administrative and Special Projects Manager, coordinate and manage activities and events relating to the NIH Global Doctoral Partnerships Annual Workshop, recruitment, career development, Lasker Lessons in Leadership, and all other IBRA coordinated events
  • Work with the NIH-Oxford-Cambridge Scholars Program Student Leadership Board to develop, fund and execute events that enhance the student’s training experience
  • Prepare materials and reports for the Board of Directors Meetings
  • Manage the Operating Budget and Accounting process
  • Maintain financial, administrative and corporate records and files of the organization
  • Perform other tasks as requested by the Chair or Board

Our ideal candidate is someone who:

  • at minimum, has a bachelor’s degree; advanced degree preferred
  • has a minimum of five to seven years’ experience in executive management of a non-profit health care or research related organization with at least two years in a leadership capacity
  • has a proven track record in resource development (fundraising)
  • has strong leadership skills, including negotiations, problem solving, decision making and delegation
  • has excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
