Job Summary

The Associate Director of Nonprofit Development has the unique opportunity to both lead a team of development staff and help grow Yleana’s development operations. This position is an expert and lead development professional in complex and sensitive areas such as major gifts, planned giving, corporate and foundation relations, and cultivation and stewardship. Work at this level requires using a variety of contacts to solicit gifts and develop agreements and contracts. This person will report to the Executive Director and Chief of Development Staff, and will be responsible for driving and managing fundraising campaigns and events in collaboration with Yleana’s development team. This position is expected to manage a portfolio of donors and will need to be comfortable working across the spectrum of cultivation and stewardship reflecting best practices in the fund development field. The Associate Director will also be responsible for the recruitment and induction of new candidates for Yleana’s Board and Regional Leadership Council.

This candidate must be based in the Baltimore, New York City, Philadelphia, or Boston area, or be willing to relocate upon hiring.  While parts of this position can be done remotely, at least some of it must be done in person.

Essential Duties
    Grow fundraising pipeline and bring in new funding, board candidates, and volunteers. Work with Board members to steward major gifts, including multi-year pledges. Provide organization, production, and maintenance of annual campaign materials and data, including coordination of all special event committees and volunteers.   Develop and foster relationships with donor prospects and corporate partners.   Manage day-to-day activities in the donor database and serve as the organizational expert.  Engage staff and support other stakeholders in telling relevant stories that advance the mission of Yleana. Plan and manage Board and Council meetings. Develop content for direct mail and other fundraising communications to advance fundraising and improve Yleana’s overall visibility and identity with donors.  Develop strategy to engage, solicit and steward donors and potential donors through the management of a fundraising matrix planning document. Ensure compliance with policies and procedures set forth for use and growth of Funraise software and ensure database integrity; manage daily use of Funraise. Coordinate outreach programs and development team to facilitate gifts over a specific geographical area or with specific businesses. Act as the chief public relations contact with organizations and major gift donors.   Draft proposals, letters, and agreements to close planned gifts. Oversee coordination of all fundraising and event logistics, including crowdfunding campaigns. Identify, cultivate, recruit, and develop fundraising volunteers and leadership. Support Executive Director in her role of Board management. Assist Chief of Development Staff with administrative support.
Qualifications
    Please do not apply without 3-5 years of professional fundraising experience, preferably, but not limited to, work in development in the field of education. Bachelor’s degree required. Strong understanding of the mission and messaging of Yleana, and ability to articulate this mission through compelling communication. Excellent verbal and written communications skills, particularly the ability to read, analyze, write, and edit annual fund materials, reports, social media posts, and press releases, and correspond with external businesses, community members, and the media. Knowledgeable in annual giving, major gifts, special events, corporate and foundation giving, and donor relations. Experience in a nonprofit environment is preferred.  Proficiency working with Google Suite. Experience with Funraise is a plus; experience with Salesforce is a plus. Must possess efficient time management skills to consistently meet deadlines. Must be a good self-starter. Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Compensation & Benefits
    $60,000-$70,000 annual salary, commensurate with experience. Benefits:
