The Opportunity
The University of Washington, Continuum College seeks a collaborative and entrepreneurial visionary to provide leadership and strategic oversight for fundraising, alumni, and constituent engagement. The newly created position of Chief Advancement Officer (CAO) for Continuum College will create a culture of philanthropy by developing and executing fundraising strategies, engaging alumni, fostering external relationships and identify development opportunities by building a fundraising team that advances the vision and strategic goals of Continuum College in support of the mission of the University of Washington.

Position Description
Reporting directly to the Vice President of Development, the CAO will work collaboratively with the Vice Provost, Continuum College to establish and execute a plan for successfully creating, leading and implementing an integrated resource development strategy to identify and support new opportunities for increasing Continuum College’s impact. The successful candidate should have at least eight years of progressive experience in institutional development with a proven track record of soliciting gifts of $50K or more.
Essential Job Functions
- Provide counsel and identify opportunities to the Continuum College Vice Provost to create and implement a fundraising plan/strategy that aligns with the college and university goals.
- Develop, build, and sustain deep long-term relationships with key stakeholders, including donors, prospective donors and business and community leaders, inviting their partnership and financial investment in pursuit of shared goals.
- Lead broad-based marketing efforts, internally and externally, with a commitment to building programmatic awareness, amplifying the mission and values of Continuum, and growing support for the program.
- Provide counsel to the Continuum College Vice Provost and Executive Council to further the equity mission through advancement.
