Location: Remote
Salary: 85-95K annually
Hours: Full time (40 hours per week)

We share our discoveries about harmful environmental exposures with the public and nurture a culture of leadership in communities. Our programs and resources cultivate science literacy and build a foundation of collaborative problem-solving among our next generation of leaders, scientists, physicians, citizens, and stewards. Working both nationally and internationally, our collaborative approach engages local communities, governments, the private sector, and other partners.
Position Overview:
The Assistant Director of Development works to create and maintain key constituent relationships, expand and maintain CHDs funding base, and ensure that fundraising targets are met. The Assistant Director organizes fundraising programs, projects and special events, works directly with donors and prospects, and will grow and manage a portfolio of donors in the $5,000-$25,000 range. This critical role oversees production, execution and result tracking for online appeals, and provides support for all CHD fundraising activity.

Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the cross-unit creation and execution of monthly, online appeals to CHD’s database and membership
- Develop and manage a portfolio of mid-range donors
- Work closely with the CDO to manage and coordinate stewardship activities
- Draft proposals and various materials, for specific fundraising activities
- Work with CHD donors and volunteers on the planning and execution of private, fundraising events
- Manage projects through all phases including idea, design, feedback and approval, and implementation
- Occasional oversight of temporary or contract, workers
- Occasional travel to remote events
Qualifications:
- 3 – 5 years of Development experience in a similar or complementary role
- A strong understanding of and belief in CHD’s mission
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Experience with Raiser’s Edge NXT, BlackBaud Luminate, and MS Office Suite, strongly preferred
- Knowledge of fundraising principles and best practices
- Exceptional verbal, written and managerial skills
- Highest levels of discretion and professionalism
- Detail-oriented, with strong organizational, analytical, and planning skills
