Organization Overview

Baby2Baby provides children living in poverty with diapers, clothing, and all the basic necessities that every child deserves. In the last 11 years, Baby2Baby has distributed over 270 million items to children in homeless shelters, domestic violence programs, foster care, hospitals and underserved schools as well as children who have lost everything in the wake of disaster. During the COVID crisis, Baby2Baby has reached over one million children in over 150 cities across the country.

 

Position Overview

 

As Baby2Baby has entered a stage of significant opportunity and growth, we seek a dynamic, creative, and entrepreneurial development professional who wants to make a difference by joining this vibrant team and providing strategic leadership in development.

This senior member of the development team will be critical in expanding and strengthening

development efforts to raise more than $16 million per year. This will take place through thoughtful relationship-building, the oversight of development systems and best practices for the organization, and close partnership with the co-CEOs, COO, and other leaders of the development and marketing teams.

 

This role has an enormous potential for impact. The ideal candidate for this role will be collaborative, entrepreneurial, process-oriented, energetic, and adaptable. This will be someone who is well versed in fundraising best practices, with the experience to develop strategic and effective fundraising plans, execute to meet objectives, and problem-solve independently. This position is based in Baby2Baby’s Culver City office.

 

This Senior Development Position will work Monday-Friday at 5830 W.  Jefferson Boulevard, Los

Angeles, CA 90016. The work is performed in an office setting and is currently in office on site at least 3 days per week. This is evolving and subject to change.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

 

Development Planning & Operations

 

  • Works in conjunction with Co-CEOs and other fundraising team leads to develop holistic
  • strategies for long-term, sustainable funding.
  • Oversees the implementation and management of best practices in development infrastructure,
  • including systems, processes, and tools to ensure effectiveness and accountability across
  • fundraising functions.
  • Partners with development stakeholders on major gift initiatives.
  • Manages members of a growing team including a Development Coordinator.
  • Partners closely with other team leads to manage coordination of fundraising tools, technology
  • solutions and donor databases as necessary.
  • Leads the use of development data analysis to guide goal setting, inform activity and engagement strategies, and provide informed reporting for leadership and advisory groups.

 

Foundation Funding & Grants

 

  • Oversees Baby2Baby’s efforts to expand grants funding by researching and preparing grant
  • proposal requests and reports for existing and new foundation funders.
  • Identifies, cultivates, and develops key Foundation relationships, and builds relationships with key public officials to increase likelihood for funding
  • Be educated and informed regarding key funding issues surrounding public, private and government funding.
  • Performs prospecting research to create a robust pipeline of prospects with aligned priorities and giving patterns.

 

Individual Giving & Donor Communications

  • Builds a growth strategy for Annual Fund donors and creates opportunities for engaging lower-to- mid-level individual donors (under 25K) with an eye towards demonstrating the impact of their
  • giving and growing their gifts to include support of online campaigns and other fundraising efforts.
  • Partners with the marketing team to create a plan for utilizing crowdfunding and peer-to-peer tools (Classy) to best effect.
  • Works in close partnership with the Marketing & Communications team to ensure necessary online and print materials are created and available to grow fundraising and appeal to donor/funder audiences.
  • Becomes a Baby2Baby expert and excel in telling our story to donors, prospects, and volunteers. Be able to act as a poised, clear, and compelling spokesperson for the organization as needed at in-person fundraising, cultivation and volunteer events.

 

Required Qualifications

  • Confident and entrepreneurial development professional with 5-10 years of fundraising experience.
  • Direct experience interfacing with donors, with proven expertise in the steps required to building strong donor relationships and securing large gifts from major donors and foundations.
  • Solid knowledge of development best practices and implementing necessary processes to support an efficient and effective development program.
  • Experience managing development operations and using data analysis and reporting to drive
  • informed planning. Experience working with or overseeing development databases and crowdfunding platforms preferred.
  • Experience managing a successful team and driving forward individual goals.
  • Ambitious and self-driven; history of creating from scratch and/or advancing a development function within a fast-paced, high growth environment.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with proven ability to tell a compelling story.
  • Demonstrated ability to think creatively and bring fresh ideas and approaches to development initiatives. Flexibility, drive, and a “roll-up-your-sleeves” approach.
  • This role's salary range is between $100,000-130,000. Actual salary is determined based on a number of factors, including but not limited to your relevant skills, qualifications, and years of experience.
