Primary Responsibilities

Creative Commons is looking for a skilled, proactive, and creative Institutional Giving Manager to grow our portfolio of foundation and corporate gifts. The Institutional Giving Manager will report to the Director of Development. They will be primarily responsible for institutional prospecting, proposal writing, and grants administration.

The Institutional Giving Manager will:

  • Manage the range of activities required to prepare, submit, and manage grant proposals to foundation, government, and corporate sources including drafting LOIs and proposals, managing award receipt, and tracking programmatic/deliverable progress
  • Conduct aggressive prospect research of current and prospective foundation and corporate funders
  • Build and steer CC’s corporate giving, in particular related to CC event sponsorship and employee matching, overseeing related activities carried out by other Development team members.
  • Conduct foundation and corporate calls and meetings alongside the Director of Development, Deputy CEO, CEO, and other key CC staff on a case by case basis
  • Maintain and monitor accurate grant calendars, Salesforce and Asana records, and organizational files for all funders and prospects
  • Collaborate with program leads and finance to develop grant budgets
  • Oversee and track grant deliverables with program teams, write compelling progress reports, and other outputs
  • Track statistics related to organizational impact for funder reporting
  • Actively package organizational programs to align with funding opportunities
  • Collaborate with the Director of Development and CC team to build, improve, and streamline  proposal and administration workflows, boilerplate language, and evaluation and reporting practices 
  • Travel with organization leadership, as needed, to provide support during in-person donor meetings
  • Assist with other fundraising projects as needed

Desired Skills & Qualifications

  • 5+ years nonprofit experience with a focus on corporate giving, grant writing, and grants management
  • Demonstrated knowledge of foundation and corporate prospecting practices,  grantmaking and reporting cycles, proposal writing, and administration
  • Outstanding writing and communication skills in English with a knack for translating complex concepts and jargon into simple, easy to understand language 
  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships with foundations and corporations 
  • Knowledge of indirect cost rates and application
  • Experience with detailed and multi programmatic budgeting
  • Ability to balance deadlines and near-term projects while advancing long-lead efforts
  • Ability to work collaboratively with individuals and teams across different areas of subject matter expertise
  • Exceptional attention to detail and task follow-through
  • An interest in CC’s work and legacy, and passion for issues related to open culture

  • Ability and enthusiasm for working in a fully remote and independent environment
  • Comfortable with Salesforce and other software systems used for fundraising
  • Familiarity with Excel, Classy, Foundation Directory, Guidestar, and Windfall are a plus

The base salary range for this position is $75,000-85,000 USD, commensurate with relevant skills and experience.
