Job Description

The University of Nevada, Reno seeks candidates for an Assistant Controller, Foundation. The Assistant Controller, Foundation is responsible for the financial management and oversight of nearly 3,800 funds for the Foundation, including over 900 endowment funds totaling approximately $200 million with new gifts invested quarterly.  The Assistant Controller’s responsibilities include financial accountability and compliance with Federal, State and Nevada system of Higher Education (NSHE) requirements for accounting, taxes and financial management.  

 

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Responsible for providing documentation to external auditors for year-end and interim audit work, scheduling work assignments for account reconciliations and preparation of work papers for the annual audit. 

  • Responsible for cash and investment management, cash flow projections and budgeting on a daily, monthly, quarterly and annual basis.

  • Responsible for updating and maintaining endowment-spending calculations for over 900 endowment funds.

  • Responsible for the monthly transfer of funds from the Foundation to the University in conformity with state and university policies and procedures.

  • Responsible for tax return preparation.

  • Respond to customer inquiries.

  • Reconcile the daily cash receipts to the deposit.

  • Reconcile accounts, provide financial reporting and analytical reporting.

  • Query relational data and produce reports.

  • Fully document and maintain operating manual for training.

  • Responsible for establishing new gift accounts and budgets in accordance with donor restrictions.

  • Answer questions from campus regarding use of gift funds and funding of projects.

 

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree and four (4) years of related professional work experience; OR Master’s Degree and two (2) years of related professional work experience.

Related experience: includes progressively responsible financial management experience to include college/university or governmental accounting; progressively responsible experience; and preparing financial statements or a related field.

 

Preferred Qualifications

Certified Public Accountant (CPA)

 

Compensation Grade

Administrative Faculty - Compensation Grade C.

Salary is based on related education and experience, internal equity and budgets.

Grants-in-aid
