Benedictine Military School is a private, all-male, Catholic college preparatory day school which forms and educates boys in grades 9-12 from diverse backgrounds, supports a deeper commitment to their faith, prepares them for life through a quality academic program, and instills leadership skills through a JROTC program, athleticsextra-curricular activities and community service. The school is seeking an experienced Director of Advancement to manage fundraising, marketing, and communications efforts. This position reports directly to the headmaster and is responsible for strategically promoting the school’s brand, cultivating relationships with key constituents, and soliciting gifts that support the school’s mission for an all-male Catholic education. Additionally, the Director oversees all external communications ensuring that the school maintains a clear and consistent voice to its stakeholders.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the Headmaster, Principal, Board of Directors, and other key members of the school community in executing the school's comprehensive strategic fundraising plan.
  • Meet established fundraising goals, understanding the critical role that donor participation plays in ensuring the success of the school's mission.
  • Develop an overarching strategy that includes appropriate donor cultivation, personal contact, effective solicitation, and ongoing relationships.
  • Increase major gifts, planned giving, foundation support, and corporate support, in line with the growth trajectory and revenue assumptions outlined in the Strategic Plan including increasing gifts to the endowment.
  • Direct the major fundraising initiatives, including the Benedictine Fund (annual fund), major gifts, planned-giving and grants.
  • Oversee special events throughout the year, such as BC Reunion Weekend/Homecoming, Koszewski Dinner, Senior Breakfast, BC Oyster Roast, Scholarship Luncheon, Annual Alumni Business Meeting, Thank a Donor Day, donor receptions, and additional stewardship events.
  • Initiate and maintain contact with major donors, building meaningful relationships.
  • Conduct independent research, to identify prospective donors from a variety of constituencies.
  • Prepare written development materials including case statements, proposals, and fundraising initiative/campaign related literature.
  • Draft, with support, the annual budget for the Advancement office.
  • Manage the Advancement team which includes the Director of Annual Giving, Director of Alumni Engagement, Communications Manager, and the Director of Advancement Services, to enhance the fundraising effort and to market the school to all stakeholders.
  • Work with the Director of Annual Giving to execute the annual fundraising plan for strong predictable growth using a multi-constituent, segmented strategy including board campaign, faculty-staff campaign, parent campaign, alumni campaign, senior giving campaign, individual donor meetings, direct mail solicitations, and email solicitations.
  • Work with the Director of Alumni Relations to ensure alumni participation in developing a culture of stewardship.
  • Oversee the Communications Manager for strategy, social media, multi-media and design, website, content creation/editorial, network engagement, press/media relations, and organizational writing.
  • Supervise the Director of Advancement Services to ensure the proper receiving, allocating, recording, and acknowledging of all gifts.
  • Coordinate with Director of Admissions to facilitate an enrollment management program to meet the goals of the school.
  • Manage scholarships including Endowed and Named Scholarships and the GOAL Scholarship Program.
