About the Position

The Grant Officer will support the management of partnerships with the GIIN’s institutional funders in a fast-paced organization, with a primary focus (~75%) on donor reporting and grant management, in collaboration with GIIN program staff. We are seeking an excellent writer and critical thinker who can capture the GIIN’s market-building work – from developing tools for impact measurement and management and piloting impact performance benchmarks, to mobilizing investments in climate solutions and advancing the impact practices of institutional asset owners – in a clear, structured, and compelling manner. The successful candidate will have strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to multi-task and a keen eye for detail; will thrive in learning about new topics and content; and is a proactive problem-solver who takes initiative to consistently perform at high standards. Exposure to concepts related to impact investing, sustainable finance, or general investing is highly desired.

The Grant Officer role is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the GIIN’s growth, helping to achieve its ambition of harnessing the power of financial markets to address global challenges and build a more inclusive, sustainable, and resilient economy and society. This position also offers front-row exposure to the dynamic impact investing industry and what it takes to build this market.  The Grant Officer will report to the Associate Director of Partnerships Management and Donor Relations.

Responsibilities:

Donor Reporting

  • Produce well-crafted donor reports for foundations, governments, and corporate funders that present the GIIN’s market building activities with clarity, elevating key achievements relative to funder priorities.
  • Collaborate with the Development team and/or GIIN program teams to ensure compliance to and completion of grant obligations, including but not limited to key performance indicators, project deliverables and milestones, and specific reporting requirements.

Grant Management

  • Support and/or assume grant management for assigned portfolio of funders, including:
    • Creating grant overview documents to ensure clear understanding of grant commitments across Development, Program, and Finance teams
    • Capturing and tracking relevant funder information, proposal and reporting timelines, grant requirements, activities, and workplans using Salesforce and other internal systems
    • Coordinating with the Finance team on grant administrative details
    • Corresponding with funders for administrative purposes as needed
  • Manage internal organization-wide quarterly reporting by GIIN program teams, including:
    • Developing and/or updating internal reporting templates for new grants
    • Gathering and ensuring high-quality, accurate, and relevant information/data
    • Liaising with program staff to ensure appropriate and clear framing or presentation of activities
  • Generate Salesforce reports regarding grant activity and deadlines on a regular basis
Operations

  • Maintain institutional donor files and records, including tracking proposal development, grant timelines, payments, contact details, and other funder-related actions and information in Salesforce and other internal systems
  • Manage weekly and monthly internal team meetings, including but not limited to scheduling, coordinating agendas, and capturing key discussion items
  • Manage internal Development team trackers, processes, and workplans
  • Coordinate with other GIIN teams to develop, implement, and integrate organization-wide processes, as needed

Other Responsibilities

  • Contribute to grant application process, including compiling organizational and board information, drafting responses to specific questions, managing online submissions through funder grant portals, etc.
  • Contribute to the donor pipeline development process, including but not limited to conducting research on funding activities and priorities of prospective funders
  • Provide administrative support for sponsorships of the annual GIIN Impact Forum, including fulfillment of sponsorship benefits, as needed

Candidate Profile

The successful candidate will have demonstrated excellent writing, critical thinking, and project management skills; the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects and deliver on deadlines; and experience in collaborating effectively with stakeholders across teams. Exposure to concepts related to impact investing, sustainable finance, or general investing is highly desired.

Other requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree required (communications or related degree a plus).
  • 5 years of relevant work experience demonstrating strong writing and editing abilities, organizational skills, and strategic thinking.
  • Proven ability to effectively interpret and synthesize at times complex inputs from a variety of stakeholders to develop compelling narratives.
  • Adeptness in learning new concepts or topics
  • Detail-oriented, with a proactive approach to problem-solving and high standards of performance.
  • Team-oriented, professional, resourceful, flexible, and highly responsible.
  • Fluent in Microsoft Office Suite and experience in Salesforce or similar CRM tool.
  • Experience with international donor community a plus.
  • Commitment to equity and justice. Successful candidates will be aware that race, income, age, immigration status, sexual orientation, gender and gender expression, and other identities can play, and have historically played, a role in equity disparities, including within organizations. Successful candidates will be committed to continuous learning about diversity, equity, and inclusion and how to manifest these principles in the workplace.
