Chief Development Officer

Sturdy Memorial Hospital, located in Attleboro, Massachusetts, seeks an experienced and energetic fundraiser to serve as its next Chief Development Officer (CDO). This is an exciting opportunity to advance a vibrant community hospital and its ambitious goals in care delivery to the residents of Southeastern Massachusetts and adjacent communities in Rhode Island.

Reporting to the President/CEO, Aimee Brewer, the CDO, will lead all philanthropy efforts supporting Sturdy Memorial Hospital. The CDO will provide overall strategic direction and operational leadership for philanthropy across the health system. This includes creating, planning, coordinating, and supporting the execution of successful initiatives in all areas of development, major gifts, grateful patient giving, planned giving, grants, events, and leading a capital campaign.

The CDO will partner with a dynamic CEO and engaged board to promote a culture of philanthropy across the organization and with internal and external stakeholders. This position will require an energetic, well-connected, relationship-driven leader with demonstrated experience in leading capital campaigns from start to finish, and building out development teams and committees in a mission-driven setting. The CDO will be a collaborative, action-oriented professional who can communicate effectively and build lasting, strong relationships across the health system and communities it serves. Additionally, the CDO should bring a passion for philanthropy, and the positive impact philanthropy can make for patients and caregivers. The donation dollar significantly impacts a community hospital more than a large, urban health system. The CDO will need to be a go-getter who will be energized by the opportunity to build a lasting culture of philanthropy at Sturdy.

Sturdy Memorial is a locally controlled, not-for-profit community health system committed to the delivery of high-quality, compassionate care and patient expectations. Since 1913, Sturdy Memorial has been dedicated to providing its service area with a full range of inpatient and outpatient services. What started as a 15-bed facility over 100 years ago has grown into a 126-bed facility with over 2,100 employees. Sturdy Memorial Hospital admits over 7,000 individuals annually and treats over 53,000 patients annually in its Emergency Department. The Medical Group has over 300,000 patient visits annually. Sturdy Memorial is committed to providing healthcare to their primary service areas of Attleboro, Dighton, Foxboro, Mansfield, North Attleboro, Norfolk, Norton, Plainville, Rehoboth, Seekonk, Sharon, Taunton, Walpole and Wrentham, all in Massachusetts, and Cumberland and Pawtucket in Rhode Island. They also provide care to anyone who needs it, regardless of their place of residence.

The successful candidate will possess at least a bachelor's degree with a minimum of 10 years of comprehensive fundraising management and leadership experience, preferably in a healthcare setting. Experience planning, implementing and launching a campaign will be required.
