 Associate Director, Major Gifts

The Associate Director (AD), Major Gifts will be responsible for managing a portfolio of approximately 60-75 prospects and donors capable of making six figure gifts and above. The AD is based in New York and will cultivate, steward, and solicit prospects in the New England region and other regions as assigned. The AD will be responsible for the management of a volunteer regional committee based in Boston. The AD will work in collaboration with CAm development staff, as well as colleagues from the University of Cambridge (UK) and the constituent Cambridge Colleges.  The AD will be a member of the fundraising team with two counterparts managing other key U.S. regions as well as colleagues handling principal and planned gifts.

Responsibilities:

  • This role involves a high-level of collaboration with both internal partners at CAm, and external partners across Cambridge, at both the Collegiate and University level.
  • In coordination with the Director of Development and Regional Strategy and specified CAm, College, and University staff, develop and implement an annual plan for prospect outreach, visits, and asks to reach activity and solicitation goals.
  • Develops, plans, and implements strategies and approaches to identify, personally solicit, and consistently close major gifts of six-figures or more, via close collaboration with partners at Collegiate Cambridge, as appropriate.
  • Work closely with the Manager, Board and Volunteer Programs and Alumni Relations and Events team to develop and execute an annual strategy for engaging alumni, building community throughout assigned regions, and managing the Boston Regional Committee.
  • Staff high-level university and college leadership on prospect meetings throughout assigned regions.
  • Assist with implementation and staffing of CAm and University of Cambridge events, including occasional night and weekend events.
  • Gathers and records information about prospects and donors utilizing CAm’s donor and alumni tracking database.
  • Ensure timely completion of contact reports on meetings and interactions with alumni, donors, and prospects.
  • Partner with Senior Manager, Donor Relations and Communication to ensure appropriate stewardship for assigned prospects.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Director.

Qualifications

  • Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor’s degree or higher. Or appropriate combination of education and experience.
  • 4 years development, marketing, or sales, or equivalent experience is required. Experience working in a complex organization or university setting preferred.
  • Capacity to develop and maintain trust and collegiality within a highly collaborative and complex working environment, and an ability to work with an array of personalities with differing and sometimes competing priorities.
  • A high degree of professionalism and patience, including the demonstrated ability to manage responsibilities with tight and changing deadlines with accountability, flexibility, integrity, and tact.
  • Outstanding organizational and analytical skills. 
  • Results-oriented with excellent follow-through skills. 
  • Exceptional persuasive oral and written communication skills. 
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally. Approximately 25-40% travel. Ability to work in the US.

 

The salary for this position is $95,000 - $115,000 per annum.

CAm is currently operating on a hybrid schedule of three days working in the office and two days working remotely.

CAm requires that all staff be fully vaccinated. Please note that proof of vaccination will be required.
