General Summary: As a part of the Communications Team within Chicago Booth’s Office of Advancement, this role supports the digital engagement of alumni, donors, and volunteers by strategically using platforms and content to support the Office of Advancement’s alumni engagement and fundraising objectives.

 

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Email – utilizes Marketo and other digital tools, creates and deploys emails including planning, proofreading, data/audience selection, QA and testing, and obtains proper approvals for alumni-related communications as assigned.
  • Metrics – provides regular data and analytics reports to help team monitor effectiveness of email, social media, and web.
  • Email Calendar – manages alumni and donor email calendar.
  • Social Media – provides tactical support to manage alumni and donor social channels (currently LinkedIn and Instagram), including scheduling content, responding to partner requests, and offering graphics support.
  • Website Management – maintains accuracy of pages on alumni website (e.g., events pages) and makes regular edits and updates to reflect latest details and information. Conducts regular audits of ChicagoBooth.edu/alumni pages.
  • Graphic Design Support – creates and edits assets for social media, email, web and print, including image sourcing and resizing. Manages design projects with outsourcing vendor.
  • Multimedia – manages event photography including scheduling, providing photo direction/shot lists, organizing and uploading event photos as necessary. Manages content on Booth Alumni YouTube playlist.
  • Accomplishes assigned duties through two or more of the following: written communications; visual/graphic media, which may include Web site development and maintenance; speeches and personal contact. The incumbent is still acquiring higher-level knowledge and skills.
  • Solves a range of straightforward problems, as work assignments are difficult and broad in nature, usually requiring originality and ingenuity.
  • Continues to build higher level knowledge of the University, processes and customers.
  • Performs other related work as needed.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • A minimum of two years of professional experience with at least one of these years in communications or marketing.
  • Alumni relations, development, and/or higher education.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Adobe (including photoshop), Outlook, Cvent, Sitecore, Marketo or similar email platform database programs.
  • Knowledge of multimedia.
  • Proven skills in website usability and digital best practices.
  • Proven interpersonal and diplomacy skills.
  • Customer service minded; with superior organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail, as well as written and oral communications skills.
  • Work independently on multiple projects simultaneously; function effectively as a team member.
  • Effectively manage time, prioritize work, and multi-task across many assignments; think both strategically and logically, with the ability to function effectively under tight deadlines and high workload.
  • This position is currently expected to work a minimum three days per week in the office.
