Position Location: This position is hybrid. Hybrid positions combine regular in-person presence at our Washington, DC office with the option of at least two days of remote work each week.

Responsibilities

The Development Coordinator will support Brookings Metro’s growing, exciting development program. Responsibilities include timely and accurate entry of fundraising data into Raiser’s Edge and Salesforce, administrative and fundraising support, as well as scheduling meetings, coordinating event logistics and travel. The Coordinator will manage multiple assignments, manage systems, take initiative to learn new skills and problem solve, as well as understand and anticipate team needs. The Coordinator will have a commitment to Brookings Institution’s and Brookings Metro’s mission.

Data and Information (50%)

  • Manages, inputs, and tracks all fundraising data into Institution-wide Raisers Edge database, and become the team’s expert in the functions and opportunities in Raisers Edge.
  • Serves as lead in inputting data and maintaining all development files in SharePoint and Salesforce in addition to uploading proposal and report documents in internal and external systems.
  • Coordinate with Central Development on prospect research to identify potential new corporate, individual and foundation donor prospects.
  • Maintains daily records in Salesforce throughout opportunity lifecycles by inputting donor prospects, grant opportunities, calendar milestones, contacts, and funder lists.
  • Generates relevant reports from Salesforce for Dev and Finance meetings
  • Maintains donor lists for research portfolios, geographic regions, program initiatives, and councils/advisory groups.

Administrative Management (35%)

  • Actively participates in weekly All Dev, Metro Dev, and other staff/scholar meetings, taking detailed notes and distributes agenda items as required.
  • Assists the Development team with the preparation of foundation, corporation, and individual briefings for funder and prospect meetings.
  • Schedules development-related appointments, meetings, and conference calls for the Dev team.
  • Coordinates travel logistics including (air, train, hotel, ground transport); prepares travel expense forms; prepares P-card transaction assistant forms.

Events & Special Projects (15%)

  • Works closely with Metro’s Events team to plan and execute Met Council planning meetings/calls and Met Council events, PLC meetings, and other Program-wide events.
  • Serves as point of contact representing the Metro Development team for Associate Director of Event Strategy, Brookings Central Development and Executive Offices on Brookings events (i.e. Brookings Council, Metro events, etc.), funder meetings, BI President/trustee related items, etc.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Education/Experience Requirements:

Three years professional administrative work experience in a fast-paced, challenging work environment; preferably with experience in networking and organizing. Proven ability to work with senior level executives, both internal and external. High school diploma required; bachelor’s degree preferred. Must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S.

Knowledge/Skill Requirements:

Microsoft Outlook (to include the calendar feature), Word, Excel and PowerPoint proficiency required, Salesforce and Raisers Edge preferred. Excellent organizational and project management skills with high level of attention to detail and follow-up. Strong oral and written communication skills with ability to interact with all levels of internal and external stakeholders. Must be proactive and demonstrate a high degree of professionalism. Ability to maintain confidentiality of highly sensitive information. Ability to work independently as well as with a team.
