OVERVIEW
Hauʻoli Mau Loa Foundation’s Board of Directors is seeking a new
Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Hauʻoli Mau Loa Foundation (“the
Foundation”) is a private grantmaking foundation established in
1990 by Helga Glaesel-Hollenback who, in her words, “found great
happiness on the islands of Hawaiʻi” and through her philanthropy
sought “to return the generosity of the islands.” Janis Reischmann,
the Foundation’s first executive director and a member of its
board, will be leaving the Foundation in October 2023 as part of a
long-anticipated leadership succession plan.
As leader of the Foundation’s staff of five and a member of its Board, the new CEO will steward the Foundation’s mission: In partnership with others, we seek to expand for those less fortunate, especially children, opportunities to find hope for their future, and we seek to enhance stewardship, preservation and protection of the environment. The essence of the Foundation’s history and culture, including its own way of implementing its mission, is summarized in the Foundation's "DNA": https://tinyurl.com/HMLF-DNA.
ROLE OF THE CEO
The CEO is responsible for the overall leadership and management of
the Foundation, including governance, organization, administration
and operations, board relations, external communication, and
oversight of the Foundation’s mission, goals, objectives, and
general operating policies. The CEO serves as a member of the Board
of Directors and works with the Board and Staff to develop the
Foundation’s strategic vision and goals and the grantmaking
programs that will implement the Foundation’s mission and goals.
