President, Good Shepherd Food Bank
Auburn, ME

Since its founding in 1981, Good Shepherd Food Bank (the Food Bank) has been striving to eliminate hunger in Maine. The Food Bank has set a bold goal: By 2025, all Mainers experiencing hunger will have access to the nutritious, culturally relevant food they need to thrive, when and where they need it. In doing so, the Food Bank will help stabilize the lives of people facing hunger, reduce the impact of hunger in the state, and make Maine a stronger, more resilient place to work and live.

The recipient of several awards, the Food Bank is seen as cutting edge in the sector. With more than 600 partners, which include food pantries, meal sites, schools, and healthcare centers, the Food Bank is viewed not only as the leader in Maine of food distribution, but also as a prominent voice in the conversation about how to end poverty in Maine.

The Food Bank's fiscal year cash budget is approximately $22 million. The staff is comprised of 115 people working throughout the state. The Food Bank is supported by more than 1,100 volunteers annually, including a 20-member board of directors. Each division is led by a vice president. The divisions are Community Partnerships, Development and Communications, Equity and Impact, Finance and Administration, People and Culture, Public Policy and Research, and Supply Chain. The organization has three locations, two of which are distribution centers with administrative offices, and one of which is strictly administrative offices. To date, the organization has raised more than $100M in cash and pledges over the past four years through a concerted comprehensive campaign, and benefits from having a deep and loyal pool of more than 25,000 donors annually.

The Food Bank is seeking a new President to succeed former President and CEO Kristen Miale. The Board of Directors is seeking a proven leader with a passion for addressing complex social issues in different cultural environments. The ideal candidate will have considerable experience in leading at a strategic level, particularly in times following rapid organizational growth. They will possess superior interpersonal skills, enabling them to coalesce multiple external stakeholders around common goals. They must show a deep understanding of systemic inequities including, among others, classism and racism and have a strong commitment to promoting equity, diversity and inclusion in the workplace.

The next President will serve as the primary external representative of the organization. Experience with significant fundraising activities is highly desired, as is experience working closely with local and state government officials and policymakers.

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 10 years of strategic executive leadership experience in complex multi-program and geographically dispersed organizations that have experienced periods of growth and change.

The salary range for this position is between $175,000-$195,000 annually plus a generous and comprehensive benefits package that includes health, dental, and vision insurance; paid personal, sick, vacation and holiday time off; retirement savings with employer match; short and long-term disability; and financial coaching and planning services.
