The Director of Development, Tyler School of Art & Architecture, reporting to both the Dean and the Assistant Vice President for Development, is responsible for development and fundraising activities for Tyler School of Art and Architecture. The Director of Development will manage a portfolio of 80-100 prospects with a capacity of $50,000 and greater to identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward donors to the School. The Director’s portfolio will consist primarily of alumni of the Tyler School of Art and Architecture and will focus on fundraising priorities set by the Dean. Working in collaboration with the Dean and the Associate Vice President, the Director will co-create, manage, and execute strategy to increase philanthropic investment at Tyler. In collaboration with the Dean and the Assistant Vice President, the Director will manage the Board of Visitors, consisting of the School’s top prospects and donors. In addition, the Director of Development will have oversight and management responsibilities of associated staff.
The Director of Development will work closely with Institutional Advancement central operations in aligning unit-based priorities with those of institutional leadership and will interact with staff and faculty in the school and other colleagues throughout Temple University. This person must be a highly energetic, driven, organized, intellectually curious, and enthusiastic professional with a track record of building donor relationships and facilitating meaningful gifting opportunities and partnerships.
To be successful, the individual must work collaboratively and strategically, demonstrate good judgment and professionalism, and evidence a strong knowledge and use of principles, ethics, and best practices of successful fundraising. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Education & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree and at least six years of fundraising experience
with a proven track record of closing five to six-figure gifts. An
equivalent combination of education and experience may be

Preferred:
Experience in higher education, art, and or/architecture.
Required Skills & Abilities:
• Possesses strong written, presentation, verbal,
organizational and interpersonal skills.
• Maintains a sincere appreciation for people and
how they are each uniquely motivated.
• Demonstrates initiative and ability to work in
a timely manner with multiple deadlines and priorities.
• Experience in employee development and
performance management preferred.
• Demonstrates ability to relate well to
individuals from diverse backgrounds.
• Ability and willingness to travel and work
evening and weekend hours required.
• Computer literacy with knowledge of Banner or
similar donor management software.
This position requires a background check.
This position is assigned a hybrid work arrangement (on-campus and remote), except for the first six months of employment which is mandated as on-campus. The duration of this hybrid work arrangement is at the discretion of Temple University and the Department.
