The Bastrop County Emergency Food Pantry (BCEFP) is looking for a dynamic and engaging Development Director who is eager to lead and grow the organization’s annual fundraising work, expand its donor and prospective donor portfolio through relationship building, donor retention, stewardship, and thoughtful fundraising strategies, and actively collaborate with leadership, BCEFP’s devoted Board of Directors, committees, and volunteers to address the causes and impacts of food insecurity within the Bastrop County community. The Development Director is responsible for leading the development and execution of strategies to help the organization achieve its $6.85MM capital campaign goals, which include raising funds for the construction of a new 8,000 square-foot facility. The ideal candidate will also drive and lead the organizational annual fundraising plan, which totals $500K for FY2023. This organizational leader will be instrumental in helping transition campaign donors to annual donors with the intention of moving and growing donors up through the giving pyramid. BCEFP’s unique model helps program participants think beyond their day-to-day survival. The organization’s longer-term holistic approach helps families on the edge of economic disaster by providing nutritious food and addressing the root causes of their poverty. As a leader and largescale operator within our region’s food relief ecosystem, BCEFP also provides assistance to smaller local pantries and relief groups by bridging the supply gap between them and the Central Texas Food Bank. Rural communities experience hunger at a much higher rate than their urban counterparts, and the state of Texas’ rate is higher than the national average. BCEFP clients experience the challenges associated with living remotely—lack of transportation and access to healthy foods—leads to hunger; poor nutrition; increased risk of chronic disease like diabetes; poorer mental health; and behavioral and academic barriers in children. With this in mind, BCEFP has embarked on a comprehensive capital campaign to ensure Bastrop County is better prepared to proactively address these challenges and other root causes of food security. BCEFP seeks a Development Director who is eager to help bring this vision to life as a core member of the Executive Team.
The ideal Development Director candidate is enthusiastic, optimistic, and passionate about addressing food insecurity and being part of a proactive solution to building a healthier community. The ideal candidate is also excited to take on challenges while collaborating and working in a fast-paced environment with a small but mighty team. This position encompasses ample opportunity for advancement and a fertile environment for growth.
