Senior Manager, Institutional Giving (Foundation & Governance Support)

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Senior Manager, Foundation and Government Support assists the Senior Director of Institutional Giving in maintaining and growing overall institutional giving to the Arts Center. The Senior Manager, Foundation and Government Support oversees a growing portfolio totaling upwards of $700,000 in annual revenue and contributes to a total institutional fundraising effort of approximately $6.5M each year including foundation, corporate foundation and government funding.

The Senior Manager must possess excellent writing and communication skills as s/he/they will be responsible for stewarding existing relationships, creating proposals, reports and acknowledgements to help strengthen NJPAC’s relationships with current and prospective institutional donors. S/he/they maintains an accurate calendar of deadlines in Salesforce related to foundation, corporate and government proposals; gathers information cross-departmentally such as program details, digital images, and financial data; and writes proposals and reports.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for meeting annual Foundations and Government revenue goal of upwards of $6M, which entails direct management, stewardship and solicitation of approx. $700,000 worth of business including cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of institutional donors.
  • Work with the Senior Director, Foundation and Government Support to identify potential institutional sources of support and implement strategies to generate revenue.
  • Manage and grow a portfolio of Foundation donors and prospects. Be an active front-line fundraiser in the
  • Prepare compelling grant proposals, compliance documentation, and comprehensive final reports for annual and campaign gifts to foundation and government funders.
  • Draft thoughtful gift acknowledgements within 2 business days.
  • Configure financial budgets for proposals and reports.
  • Maintain a calendar of tasks and deadlines in Salesforce.
  • Assist in other Development Department writing projects and presentations as needed.
  • Provide support during occasional development events before and after hours

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Three to five years demonstrated experience in a professional non-profit development office.
  • Experience with grant writing and non-profit fundraising from foundations, corporations and government entities.
  • Strong writing and communication skills with an excellent command of grammar, syntax and style.
  • The ability to compose presentations of varying length and complexity including original narratives, occasional graphics and financial spreadsheets.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills with a proven ability to anticipate and meet strict deadlines.
  • A self-starter with a proactive, results-oriented work style
  • At ease in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial and ever-evolving environment
  • Team-oriented, with proven ability to collaborate; good listening skills
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Ability to build relationships and consensus across internal teams
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.), Adobe Acrobat
  • Experience with Salesforce software preferred
  • Interest in the arts a plus

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent

NJPAC offers a hybrid working environment, this is not a fully remote position. Candidates must be able to work in-person in Newark. This position requires working occasionally outside of standard business hours – morning, evening and weekends.
