PRIMARY FUNCTION:

 

A crucial member of the ADL CSC fundraising team, the Senior Director, National Philanthropy, Centers and Programs will provide strategic direction and oversight to fundraising from individuals for ADL centers and programs targeting six-figure and seven-figure donors and prospects. Working within the highly collaborative environment of the CSC development team, the Senior Director will partner with leadership to carry-out the discipline of frontline fundraising and effectively execute the donor engagement process. The senior director will lead efforts to support frontline fundraisers in regions and divisions to secure unrestricted and restricted support from individuals for ADL centers and programs.

Responsibilities

Primary:

  • Meet agreed-upon fundraising goals and metrics by serving as trusted philanthropic advisor to a portfolio of 50-75 individual prospects/donors as they move through all phases of the donor engagement process.
  • Collaborate with research and prospect management team and frontline fundraisers to identify six-figure and seven-figure individual donors and prospects for center/program support.
  • Lead effort to develop and maintain collateral materials for individual donors and prospects to advance and support center/program focused fundraising activity in ADL regions, divisions and at CSC.
  • Develop content expertise in the centers’/programs’ work and conduct independent donor meetings as well as staff center/program leaders on donor meetings and at conferences such as JFN, Aspen Ideas Festival or select regional meetings.
  • Provide expert guidance to center/program leaders in the engagement and solicitation of individual donors including developing meeting strategies and key goals for travel to achieve increased exposure and funding support within the philanthropic community.
  • Evaluate various gift opportunities and giving vehicles; recommend the most suitable for specific donors and design proposal strategies.
  • Serve as trusted philanthropic advisor to qualified prospects and donors and prepare reliable and donor-centric communications.
  • Serve as an effective and enthusiastic ADL spokesperson and representative. Maintain an active, current body of knowledge of ADL and its mission, programs, activities, institutional needs, and fundraising priorities.

  • Display a positive attitude and show good judgment, common sense, and excellent listening skills; committed to transparency, accountability, and direct communication.
  • Ability to anticipate and be responsive to multiple stakeholders' needs simultaneously, internally, and externally, including individual donors and prospects.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to see projects through to completion while meeting tight deadlines.
  • Must be self-motivated, have initiative and work independently, and be part of a team while demonstrating an extraordinary drive to meet and exceed goals.
  • Ability to successfully navigate and thrive in a complex organization. Experience in a national organization with an affiliate or chapter structure a plus.

 Work Experience:  

 

  • Significant fundraising experience including a substantial track record of soliciting and closing six-figure and seven-figure gifts from individual donors, including multi-year commitments.
  • Experience working with senior leaders, high net worth individuals and a range of philanthropy professionals.
  • Prior experience working with fundraising databases (Salesforce), MS Office applications and online collaboration tools.

 

Education:  

  • Bachelor’s degree required or equivalent professional experience.

 

Work Environment:

  • Remote work environment
  • Flexibility to work evening and weekends frequently.
  • Ability and willingness to travel nationally twenty percent of the time.

Compensation: 

  • This position has a salary range of $101,000 to $195,000. This salary range is reflective of a position based in New York, New York. Please note that actual salaries are commensurate with experience and reflect the budget for a given position, and since ADL has a location-based compensation structure, there may be a different range for candidates in other locations.
