US Philanthropy Manager: Trusts & Foundations

We are looking for a dynamic and experienced major gifts fundraiser with the skills, energy, and passion to play a key role in multiplying US philanthropy in this decisive decade as Compassion leads the way to ending factory farming by 2040. The purpose of this role is to help end factory farming by raising major gifts from trusts and foundations and administering the mid-level trusts program.

In this role you will develop a strategy of fundraising from trusts & foundations, working closely with the US Head of Philanthropy to develop a robust set of income targets and growth plans in the coming years. You will be responsible for fundraising from trusts and foundations based in the US. You will manage relationships with existing $10,000+ donors providing them with scrupulous and punctual account management through written updates and reports. New business growth is a priority, with a major focus on managing and expanding the number of principal gifts ($10k+) and a minor focus on a mid-value program (up to $10K). You will work closely with programs colleagues to identify funding opportunities and build creative and compelling proposals. Strong relationship management skills, excellent organization and writing skills, and a creative and energetic spirit are essential to the success of this role.

You will report to the US Head of Philanthropy as part of a dynamic and supportive team of 3 major donor fundraisers in the US, and a broader team of 11 major donor fundraisers comprising the Global Philanthropy Team in the UK and Europe. You will work closely with your counterpart in the international team, the Senior Trusts and Foundations Manager, supporting on strategy and proposal development and maintaining an alignment across markets.

Primary Responsibilities and Duties

  • Achieve income targets retaining current donors and securing new donors
  • Research, cultivate, and solicit new donors reaching an ambitious goal of multiplying the number of Circle of Compassion donors.
  • Deliver first-class account management to a varied portfolio of donors by coordinating timely and effective gift renewals, solicitations, acknowledgments, and reports.
  • Proactively research and cultivate a pipeline of new prospects
  • Maintain strategic oversight of income targets and KPIs
  • Develop compelling funding proposals, cases for support and impact reports
  • Maintain accurate donor records for financial reporting and evaluation
  • Contribute to the wider team’s activity and success
Requirements

Position Requirements

  • Proven ability in fundraising from trusts and foundations
  • Demonstrable experience of successfully soliciting gifts of $25,000 or more
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills
  • Entrepreneurial spirit, identifying and seizing new opportunities
  • Analytical and questioning mind
  • Able to pioneer new ideas, adapt processes and create innovative solutions
  • Efficient oversight of targets and KPIs to plan workload, prioritize and learn
  • Scrupulous budgeting and financial management skills
  • Good IT skills including Microsoft Office applications
