About Atlanta Youth Academy: Atlanta Youth Academy (AYA) is a Christian preparatory school for inner-city youth in Pre-K through 8th grades that was founded in 1997.  AYA exposes students, who otherwise likely might not have access to such an opportunity, to life-changing experiences, launching them to a brighter future in high school, college and beyond. Having recently completed a $25+M comprehensive campaign, Twenty Years of Transformation, this is an exciting time to work at AYA!  The Atlanta Youth Academy will provide an environment conducive to professional growth and a broad range of administrative leadership experience.

Position Overview: The Development Director will be a full-time position with primary responsibility for external functions of the Academy including fundraising, events, communications, marketing, branding, public relations, volunteer engagement/management, alumni relations, and grant writing/foundation relations.  The position reports to the President of the school. The Development Director sits on the administrative leadership team for the Academy along with the Director of Business and Finance, Dean of the Academy and the President to lend opinion and expertise to the overall institutional decision-making process. The position presents reports regularly to the Board of Trustees. The Development Director manages and leads two talented team members.

Education and Experience Requirements: The successful candidate will be an organized and engaging Christian professional with 5-7 years of experience in the fundraising and advancement sectors or related fields. The successful candidate will possess a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university. The candidate must exhibit strong, principled leadership skills and have management experience.  Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, are required. A successful candidate must possess the ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, the ability to work as part of a team, lead a team, and willingness to take on responsibilities beyond those explicitly assigned.  Additionally, the individual will have excellent interpersonal skills and overall teach-ability. The candidate must exercise sound judgment relating to confidential matters.
