Summary:
The National Urban League seeks an Associate to join its Partnerships and Advancement team. The Associate will support two Vice Presidents. The successful candidate will manage the coordination and administration of the day-to-day operations for the corporate and foundation portfolios. This role requires collaboration within the Partnerships and Advancement department and with other organizational units (Programs, Office of the President/CEO, Finance and Marketing). The successful candidate will prove his/her/their ability to ensure timely follow-up on all requests; enhance both the departments and the organization’s reputations by being accountable, proactive, and responsive in all projects and initiatives – accepting ownership for accomplishing new and diverse requests; and exercising sound judgment and discretion in the execution of assigned responsibilities.
Essential Functions:
- Manage the Vice Presidents’ scheduling including travel, meetings, and teleconferences.
- Scheduling Teams & Zoom meetings.
- Uploading documents to cyber grant applications

- Report & Report Preparation
- Data Management
- Manage the contracts process, receipt of checks, donor commitment forms, and acknowledgments.
- Maintain assigned Department records and files needed for the effective administration and operation of the Partnership and Advancement Department; ensure their completeness and confidentiality.
- Utilize sound judgment in coordinating the scheduling, preparation, and logistics of appointments and meetings both externally and internally.
- Perform prospect research at the instruction of the Vice Presidents.
- Ensure timely follow-up on all requests.
- Assist with planning & execution of Partnership & Advancement events.
- Enhance department and organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; and exploring opportunities to add value to job requirements.
- Exercise judgment, sensitivity, and discretion in the execution of assigned responsibilities
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree required in a related field.
Experience:
- A minimum of four years’ non-profit operation, administrative, and management experience, preferably in a fundraising/development capacity. Strong Raiser Edge experience preferred
Knowledge & Skills:
- Must have familiarity and comfort using Raiser’s Edge database
- Must possess a high degree of proficiency with Microsoft Office including Word, Excel PowerPoint, Outlook
- Proficiency with Teams & Zoom
- Strong planning and organizational skills
- Project management
- Event planning is a plus.
- Strong verbal and written communication.
- Must be able to multi-task and follow through.
- Travel logistics
- Ability to adapt to department logistics, policies, and procedures.
- Must be able to effectively interface with internal and external stakeholders with competence, confidence, and discretion.
- The position is hybrid.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
