The Development Associate is an integral part of the fundraising team and works closely with all members of an eight-person department to provide support for donor stewardship, correspondence, research, event planning, and administrative tasks. The Council relies on charitable contributions from individuals, foundations, and corporations to help support its programs. Development’s fundraising initiatives include a $10+ million annual fund campaign, a capital campaign, individual giving, foundation grants, a planned giving program, and various endowment programs.

The Development Associate will work under the direction of the Managing Director of Development.

 

The major responsibilities of this position will include (but are not limited to):
  • Assist the director of stewardship in developing, organizing, and executing special stewardship events
  • Provide support to the director of stewardship with international and domestic trips for major donors
  • Coordinate quarterly breakfasts for major donors hosted by CFR’s president at New York headquarters
  • Provide administrative support related to donor stewardship, including scheduling of events, processing invoices, and participating in departmental meetings
  • Assist with creating briefing materials for CFR president and board members for meetings with donors and prospects
  • Assist with research on prospective donors
  • Schedule vice president’s travel and internal and external meetings
  • Draft acknowledgement letters and receipts for restricted gifts
  • Proofread development office correspondence and other written materials
  • Provide additional administrative support as needed

 

Qualifications
  • BA degree with high academic credentials
  • 1+ year of experience in nonprofit fundraising and event planning, including logistical and administrative experience
  • Outstanding writing, editing, and proofreading skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to work within deadlines while multitasking
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Excellent interpersonal/communication skills
  • Comfortable working both independently and cooperatively in a team
  • Outstanding professional judgment, discretion, and demeanor
  • High degree of proficiency in Microsoft 365 suite
  • Proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment, both independently and as part of a team

Pay Range

$51,000 to $54,000 per year

Pay commensurate with experience and education
