Executive Director of Development, ASU Health

The ASU Foundation has partnered with WittKieffer as we seek the inaugural Executive Director of Development for ASU Health.

WittKieffer is assisting the Arizona State University Foundation in this search. Applications will be accepted until the position is filled. Application materials should be submitted to WittKieffer’s candidate portal.

In June 2023, at the request of the Arizona Board of Regents, Arizona State University (ASU) President Michael Crow announced a groundbreaking new initiative called ASU Health. ASU Health is a comprehensive, multifaceted solution designed to improve health outcomes for Arizonans, Americans, and people the world over.

This bold initiative includes the creation of two innovative, first-in-the-nation schools: the School of Medicine & Advanced Medical Engineering, an academic unit blending two unique and complementary disciplines for the advancement of medicine, and the School of Public Health Technology, a first-in-the-world problem-solving school focused on public health. Creative solutions to address the critical shortages in nursing and other health professions will be addressed through accelerated growth and innovative partnerships in the Edson College of Nursing & Health Innovation and the College of Health Solutions. In addition, transformative research innovations, including the Arizona Health Observatory, a one-of-a-kind surveillance system for early detection of health threats, will be launched.

The inaugural Executive Director of Development for ASU Health will be the chief development officer for this aspirational new initiative. Leading a small current team of four in the existing colleges and ultimately building out to an office of ten to twelve, the Executive Director will develop a comprehensive advancement plan, create a new pipeline of donors in collaboration with colleagues from across campus, and craft a narrative for ASU Health to help donors understand and ultimately invest in the initiative. In addition, the Executive Director will serve as a member of the ASU Foundation Senior Leadership Team. This is an extraordinary opportunity for a driven fundraising professional to help launch a visionary program as well as a robust fundraising office to support it.

The ideal candidate will be an experienced fundraiser with a fluency in health, healthcare, health research, and the sector as whole. In addition, the selected candidate will have led and motivated high-performing advancement teams in the past while holding team members accountable for results. Deep experience creating new pipelines or significantly increasing them will be critical as will a successful track record of major and principal gift fundraising. The ideal candidate should be comfortable with variability and excited by the possibility of creating a new fundraising office in a dynamic environment. The selected candidate will be entrepreneurial, patient, adaptable, and persistent, with outstanding communication skills essential in a fast-moving, fast-changing environment.
