Associate Vice President, Advancement

Responsible for the leadership and oversight of all aspects of foundation operations and the grants management program, building a high-caliber program that reflects the College’s culture, mission, goals, and strategic plan. Works collaboratively with the executive leadership team and various internal and external stakeholders executing strategies to identify, cultivate, and ensure successful fundraising opportunities.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manages and provides guidance, direction, and observation of staff whom you directly supervise. This includes but is not limited to conducting performance appraisals, goal setting, career and performance counseling, and identification and evaluation of training and development needs for staff.

  • Establishes measurable goals to increase fundraising results that are both aspirational and achievable. This includes setting a sound and strategic prospect management process and employing effective actions for prospect identification, qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.

  • Ensures successful implementation of a planned giving program by marketing and prospecting strategy as well as personally soliciting and assisting in the solicitation of planned gift prospects.

  • Directs overall grant efforts including proposal development, pre- and post-award administration, documenting payments and expenditures, optimizing the grant administration process, ensuring compliance with grant regulations, and preparing financial and program reports.

  • Develops and strengthens relationships with campus service providers and works collaboratively to ensure successful outcomes. Meets regularly with donors, clients, colleagues, and college leadership to discuss strategy, elements, and report on progress.

  • Develops short-term and long-range goals, objectives, priorities, and recommendations in support of the College’s strategic plan.

  • Formulates, develops, and implements policies and procedures. Responds to complex inquiries from all levels of employees or external sources regarding a variety of questions, such as clarification of college or campus policy and procedures.

  • Monitors expenditures in assigned budget and holds self and staff accountable for financial practices that promote sound fiscal management.

  • Maintains current knowledge of field or profession. Travels to training workshops, conferences, meetings, and professional events outside of college locations, as needed.

  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

 

Required Minimum Qualifications:

 

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • Eight years of related experience, including supervisory experience

 

Knowledge of:

  • Fundraising development, fundraising campaign, and prospect management

  • Microsoft Office Professional or similar application

 

Skilled in:                

  • Creative thinking and problem solving to explore new technology, processes, and approaches

  • Strategic thinking including effective planning, setting goals, monitoring progress, tracking results, and making appropriate adjustments to plans based on circumstances and context

  • Motivating employees to apply the effort necessary to attain organizational and departmental goals

 

Ability to:

  • Effectively communicate verbally and in writing on a regular basis with internal and external customers, build relationships, manage customer expectations, and take responsibility for a high level of service

  • Analyze and interpret numbers, trends, patterns, and data to develop new conclusions based on the findings required

  • Thrive in a fast-paced environment, capacity to prioritize, process, and execute multiple projects at a high level of accuracy and attention to detail

  • Organize and prioritize multiple, competing priorities to maximize personal and team effectiveness
