Oversees development of a program, plans, and activities to create and execute a comprehensive development plan achieving new and recurring contributions to a school, foundation, program, and/or group. Manages a portfolio of major gift donors and strategically builds fundraising prospects. Assists leadership in facilitating a comprehensive communications plan and with development strategies.

The University of Pittsburgh's Division of Philanthropic & Alumni Engagement (PAE) cultivates relationships with contributors, alumni, and other constituents on behalf of the University of Pittsburgh and UPMC, generating support for teaching, research, and care. See PAE's site for more details: pae.pitt.edu. PAE is seeking a Director of Development for the University of Pittsburgh's School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences (SHRS). The ideal candidate will develop and implement an SHRS fundraising campaign and plan and will be responsible for creating and executing strategies to generate major individual gifts ($50,000+). The incumbent will work closely with the Dean and other leadership of the school and their designees. Supervision is under the Senior Director of Development, Health Sciences Schools. The incumbent must possess a demonstrated ability in securing major gifts and pledges from individuals, corporations, and foundations, along with planning and implementing long-and-short range development initiatives that will meet established priorities and goals. A proven ability to develop a variety of fundraising methods, plans, and strategies is a must to guarantee a successful outcome. Highly developed, strong, and effective interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate with a wide and diverse range of constituencies are essential. Sound judgment, a clear understanding of ethical standards related to development activities, and discretion in interactions with donors, prospects, volunteers, and others are mandatory. This role will be implementing fundraising strategies by maintaining personal contact with prospects, involving the Dean, faculty, volunteers and staff as required; developing and implementing fundraising strategies for qualification, cultivation, and solicitation of prospects (individual, corporate and foundation) for major gifts for the school. In this role incumbent will be collaborating with the Dean of the School of Health Rehabilitation and Sciences and any related faculty or supporters/alumni to meet and be accountable for overall development goals, as established; interacting with faculty, staff, development colleagues, volunteers and external constituents to ensure effective coordination of programs, projects and other activities; researching, writing, editing, and overseeing the preparation of persuasive solicitations, proposals, correspondence and other development-related communications as required. Incumbent will be conducting other administrative functions as required by PAE and the SHRS and mastering use of Affinaquest database.
