The Assistant Director of Membership & Annual Giving directly manages a portfolio of marketing projects for UF Alumni Association membership and the annual giving program including, but is not limited to membership direct marketing appeals, annual giving direct marketing appeals, and special campaigns. Reporting to the Director of Annual Giving Programs, this position will manage relationships with central and partner units to effectively and efficiently leverage data to drive decision making and strategy. Additionally, the Assistant Director will also support fundraising activities for special audiences, such as families, as well as other special campaigns as they arise.
UFAA Membership
- Drive solicitation and engagement strategies for the UFAA Membership program, with a focus on UFAA Life Membership,
- Execute 2-4 UF Alumni Association (UFAA) direct marketing appeals annually aimed at reactivating lapsed Annual Members and/or upgrading Annual Members to a Life Membership with a focus on growing the program to increase program revenue
- Execute and oversee the direct marketing appeals a part of the UFAA renewal strategy under oversight of the Director of Membership and Annual Giving Programs.
- Serve as the primary contact for and oversee the UFAA membership perk program including adding new perks to elevate the program and completing an annual perk partner check-in to ensure all promotions are up to date.
- Manage and coordinate stewardship tasks and perk fulfillment for UFAA Life and Annual members as part of the overarching UFAA membership stewardship strategy.
- In conjunction with the Assistant Director of Young Alumni Programs execute annual campaigns aimed at converting STAT (student members) to become UFAA Annual or Life Members prior to graduation to increase the number of young alumni UFAA members. In conjunction with the Annual Giving Administrative Assistant, track inventory of UFAA membership stewardship items with partnering vendors.
- In collaboration with Alumni Relations colleagues, serve as the team contact for event set up in regard to membership-specific events such as prepping marketing materials, IT technology requests and tracking results for Gator Nation Tailgates.
- Serve as a contact for the UFAA app, working with the vendor to maintain current functions and find opportunities to add functions to increase membership and annual giving activity in partnership with UF Advancement Strategic Communications.
- Serve as the team contact to assist with membership customer service inquiries.
Annual Giving Campaigns
- Manage and execute the annual giving campaigns for 6–8 unit partners with small to medium sized constituent bases.
- In partnership with units, plan and execute direct marketing campaigns. Duties include working with graphics team to design packaging and art, determining appropriate segmentation, requesting, and managing data based on unit specific needs, drafting copy templates, working with units and communications to finalize and proof all materials, track and monitor progress to make appropriate segment changes, reporting results to units, monitoring expenses in relation to the overall budget and managing mail associated charge backs.
- Evaluate campaigns to ensure goals are being met.
- Analyze unit performance and report to units on a regular basis.
- Maintain unit projects on yearly production calendar for Annual Giving appeals.
Minimum Requirements:
Master’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization; or a bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization and one year of relevant experience.
