The Assistant Director of Donor Engagement is a highly visible and responsible position that provides communication and project management support to various members of the Donor Relations team and represents the office to a diverse constituency.  Reporting to the Director of Donor Engagement, the incumbent will provide substantial support to acknowledge and thank donors in a timely, meaningful and personal manner.

Donor Engagement Support

  • Partner with the Donor Engagement lead to develop, manage and execute impact communications targeted for individual high-level donors.
  • Work with Departmental Team Leads to plan and develop special event concepts, plan detailed programs targeted at key donor audiences.
  • Assist the Donor Engagement lead in executing custom stewardship initiatives at the request of UFF Leadership, including special campaign related gifts and volunteer/board recognition.
  • Provide liaison functions across Development and other University constituencies to identify and create stewardship deliverables and engagement opportunities that showcase the impact of donors’ philanthropy.
  • Develop and implement stewardship strategies and communications, including personalized communications, web-based information and social media around key UFA priorities, such as UF’s Giving Day.
  • Respond to the special needs and requests of donors.
  • Assist Donor Engagement and Donor Programs teams with program strategy, planning and execution support such as appropriate development and editing of content and internal education/awareness initiatives.
  • Manage the inauguration delegates initiative by handling communication with the President’s Office, researching and identifying appropriate delegates as needed, working with development officers, and overseeing general logistics.

Stewardship/Acknowledgement

  • Ensure that donors to the University are thanked appropriately, professionally, and accurately according to gift levels, donor history and across special circumstances.
  • Assist with writing, editing, collation and execution requirements of the annual endowment reporting process.
  • Ensure timeliness of acknowledgments through appropriate tracking methods; ensure departmental correspondence adheres to industry best practices and recommended turnaround times.
  • Design and implement donor surveys for the purpose of refining and improving donor recognition and donor communication practices; utilize results to help design and execute programmatic changes as needed.
  • Collaborate with Donor Relations coworkers to provide strategic direction for individual and group projects designed to enhance the donor experience. 
  • Assist on special communications projects such as newsletters, books and reports.
  • Provide ongoing education for internal partners on "best practices" in donor relations and engagement.

General Communications

  • Achieve operational objectives by contributing information and recommendations to strategic plans and reviews; prepare and complete action plans; implement production, productivity, quality, and customer-service standards, resolve problems, identify trends, determine system improvements and assist in implementing change.
  • Develop, coordinate, manage, and execute special project activities and timelines.
  • Prioritize multiple assignments and plans and executes strategies to work independently and under limited timeframes to meet deadlines.
  • Prepare one-pagers and reports as requested by the Donor Engagement lead, insuring accuracy of data and clarity of presentation.
  • Assist with implementing project protocols, templates and procedures.
  • Assist with the collection, analysis and display of data in charts, tables or other format.
  • Write/edit reports, briefs, research papers and other materials.
  • Contribute to regular brain storming on innovative, unique and personalized stewardship and engagement experiences.
  • Serve as a liaison to donor relations and stewardship representatives across campus, providing ongoing “best practices” in donor relations.
  • Research and communicate emerging trends and best practices in donor engagement and stewardship
  • Minimum Requirements: 
    Master’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization; or a bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization and one year of relevant experience.
