The Senior Major Gifts Officer is responsible for developing long term philanthropic relationships with alumni, parents and friends of New York Institute of Technology School of Management and College of Arts and Sciences.

 

 

Responsibilities
  • Manage the ongoing identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of 150 donors and major gift prospects with a financial capacity to make gifts of $10,000 or more.
  • Play a key role in the capital campaign.
  • Work closely with members of the development team to create opportunities to involve and engage major gift prospects in the life of New York Institute of Technology.
  • Interact with volunteers, trustees, major donors and alumni to help increase giving from donors and major gift prospects
  • Serve as a resource for integrating planned giving into major gift strategies where necessary and appropriate.
  • Organize strategies and briefings for the president and other staff for solicitation of major donors as appropriate.
  • Meet with individual faculty members and directors to cultivate their role in development and activities and establish strong working relationship with campus community.
Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Five or more years of development experience with demonstrated success in soliciting and closing major gifts.
  • Capital campaign experience and basic understanding of planned giving preferred.
  • Discretion with confidential matters and willingness to travel extensively are a must.
  • A professional fundraiser, with direct major gift experience.
  • A team oriented manager of the solicitation and cultivation process with strong organizational skills.
  • A strategic thinker who has demonstrated resourcefulness in working collaboratively with various constituencies.
  • An individual with strong interpersonal skills, able to communicate with believable passion, the mission and spirit of New York Institute of Technology both verbally and in writing.
  • Knowledge of BlackBaud Raiser’s Edge and BlackBaud Net Community a plus.

 

Special Considerations

 

  • Must be willing to travel to visit with prospects and to attend important events, on campus and off.
  • Night and weekends as necessary.
