TASC, Inc. (Treatment Alternatives for Safe Communities) is an Illinois-based nonprofit agency that provides specialized case management and client advocacy for people who are involved in courts, jails, prisons, foster care, and public health systems. In most of TASC’s programs, clients are referred to TASC because of substance use or mental health conditions. At our foundation, TASC services are designed to increase health and recovery, and reduce incarceration and recidivism. In addition to providing assessment, case management, and an array of other direct services across Illinois, TASC helps inform public policy and provides consultation and training services nationally and internationally.
POSITION SUMMARY:
This position is responsible for collective support of achieving
the goals set forth in the agency fundraising plan. This includes:
dedicated work in each of the identified four pillars:
government/public funding, foundation(s) funding, special
events/corporate sponsorships and individual donor tasks. This
position will have dedicated focus on directing agency wide grant
development efforts including creating, researching, organizing,
developing and responding to funding opportunities through federal,
state, local, foundation and other private channels to assist the
agency in achieving its strategic goals and objectives.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES ANDB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Direct and manage development of new grant activities and materials (Approximately 35% of time)
- Research, monitor and review traditional and non-traditional funding sources
- Analyze funding opportunities, guidelines, and regulations for organizational priority/positioning

- Identify, advise on, and summarize opportunities for internal/external distribution
- Conduct literature reviews on current and relevant topics and evidence-based models
- Draft and generate responsive, high-quality concept papers, proposal materials and supporting grant
- documentation
- Develop sound project/services budgets
- Remain up to date and responsive to agency’s strategic planning priorities.
- Dedicated focus on government/public and foundation(s) grant funding opportunities.
Implement and administer organizational grant development processes and procedures (Approximately 35% of time)
- Oversee funding entity deadlines and application requirements
- Develop and administer project management timelines
- Manage deliverables and application status from concept to submission
- Educate staff and external partners on grant requirements
- Convene cross-departmental planning, application work, and debriefing meetings
- Delegate project responsibility areas
- Ensure fidelity to funding entity goals from grant development through project launch and implementation
Manage and conduct administrative and operational support activities (Approximately 30% of time)
- Participate in internal and external cross-functional teams and committees
- Prepare departmental reports (fiscal, status) for Board, executives, and agency leadership
- Develop and/or assist executive and leadership staff with coordination of agency documents (e.g., research and policy papers, communications materials)
- Initiate and cultivate relationships with external stakeholders
- Actively participate in special events planning and required related tasks as events are scheduled/identified.
- Collaborate with community partners on capacity development activities
- Prepare documents for and assist partners with grant applications
- Represent TASC/CHJ as a member of the leadership team on various state, local and national planning bodies and on collaborative development groups
- Ensure post-award fiscal and project reporting requirements are met within established deadlines
- Oversee hiring, development, and/or termination of assigned staff including job assignments, mentoring, securing trainings, engagement in regular staff supervision and ongoing performance reviews/annual performance evaluations, and recommending disciplinary and other actions necessary in accordance with agency policies
- Attend all trainings and internal and external meetings as required
- Ensure that confidential information relating to the organization, its staff and clients, and external stakeholder partners is kept secure and protected
- Be an excellent steward of TASC, modeling the core values of the organization
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master’s degree in human services or related field from an accredited college/university.
- At least three years’ experience in successful program and/or grant development, preferably in the non- profit field, at a department director or similar position level.
- Understanding of systems, TASC/CHJ mission and services, and external stakeholders and community
- Strong idea generation, solid proposal writing expertise, editing and budget development skills, including government/public/private/foundation experience.
- Excellent organizational and project management
- Ability to manage departmental budgets and supervise Knowledge of Illinois human service field
- Knowledge of local and national funding trends
- Solid computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe applications and internet navigation, and ability to learn various external grants management systems.
- Determined, goal oriented and results
- Three or more years’ experience in direct staff supervision or oversight of teams in a professional
