Harlem Children’s Zone (HCZ) is a world-renowned non-profit that is breaking the cycle of intergenerational poverty for tens of thousands of children and adults in Central Harlem and millions more across the nation. HCZ walks hand-in-hand with young people and their families from cradle-to-college-through career. From Baby College to our early childhood programs, from our work with public school students to our Promise Academy Charter Schools, from our Healthy Harlem wellness initiative to our Afterschool and family support programs—HCZ goes beyond education to provide children with the academic, social-emotional, and college and career support they need to stay on the path to becoming self-sustaining, successful adults. No other organization uses such a comprehensive and holistic place-based approach to fighting poverty.

With a generation of proof, our innovative work over the decades has achieved unprecedented results with measurable economic and social impact in Harlem and beyond. We are a preeminent thought leader in the education, youth development, and anti-poverty fields. Called by President Obama “one of the most successful anti-poverty programs in history,” we are sharing what we have learned with communities around the country and the world, changing the lives of millions beyond Harlem.

HCZ’s Development Department is seeking a committed Institutional Giving Officer who will support the robust efforts of our dynamic team. Reporting to the Director of Institutional Giving, the successful candidate will play a key role in cultivating, stewarding, and growing corporate, foundation, and government revenue and will be an integral member of a collaborative team. Utilizing donor collateral and marketing materials, this is a front-line fundraising position based on a best practice approach to portfolio management and strategic revenue growth—the Institutional Giving team manages over $30M in annual private and public support. The Officer will work together with the Grants Managers and other front-line relationship managers to ensure the timely submission of proposals and reports.

The successful candidate will balance independent initiative with effective teamwork across Development and the organization. The Officer will steward and raise funds in support of our ongoing priorities and related fundraising goals, in accordance with our organizational values. The successful candidate will have a passion for contributing to the mission of a pre-eminent, Black-led anti-poverty organization in the education and social services space. The position will be a valued member of a supportive team driven by a shared commitment to continuous learning, professional development, and growth.
