Overview
JASA is one of New York’s largest and most trusted agencies serving
older adults. Our goal is to keep seniors living safely in their
own homes and communities with independence, dignity, and joy. JASA
seeks a dynamic and motivated professional to focus on developing
relationships with donors, volunteers, and other stakeholders to
assist in the identification, cultivation, solicitation, and
stewardship of major donors. The Donor Relations Manager is an
integral member of the Development team, working closely with the
Chief Development Officer.
Responsibilities:
- Identify opportunities to engage volunteers, senior leadership, and the President and CEO in strategic cultivation and solicitation efforts, with a key role in creating development strategy and building multiple campaigns to highlight JASA services.
- Direct all corporate fundraising and CSR activities: Identify and expand corporate relationships by creating opportunities for event and conference sponsorships, in-kind support, and naming programs to raise JASA’s profile. Spearhead all partnerships, collaborations, sponsorships, and cross-marketing with corporations, national and community-based organizations, and current and potential funders in order to advance JASA and elevate the organization’s public image.
- Strategic leadership of corporate volunteer activities. Increase the scope and funding of corporate volunteer projects and convert corporate volunteers to corporate and individual donors.
- Direct all activities related to the volunteer side of JASAChat program: engage prospective donors and actively steward relationships with frequent communication and invitations to events.
- Supervise Volunteer Coordinator and ensure that volunteer pipeline is active, monthly chat events are planned and successful, and JASA services have necessary volunteer staffing.
- Direct the JASANextGen program, which includes soliciting participation by public and private schools, managing all meetings with students and parents, hosting in-person and virtual volunteer events, managing participants’ individual projects and internships, and ensuring program participants meet fundraising goals.
- Develop a Mitzvah Project program, building relationships with temples and other religious institutions to create projects that raise awareness and critical funds.
- Coordinate, manage and lead special donor sponsorship dinners, salons and other Patron/Major Gifts/Corporate Sponsor events, as well as act as key team player in preparation of annual gala
- Work closely with the Development team to engage new stakeholders and existing donors and convert this group to major donor status
- Lead all direct mail campaigns, including client identification, writing of materials, building mailing lists, and working with designer and print vendors.
- Lead the preparation of materials for individual donors, corporate donors, and volunteers, including direct mail pieces, brochures, promotional materials, and other engagement opportunities
- Conduct donor research and produce donor profiles
- Contributes to the planning and execution of the Development team’s annual fundraising strategy and strategic plan
- Develop and maintain strong knowledge of Raiser’s Edge database, and use it to document all gifts received (individual, corporate, foundation), as well as track, analyze, and report on fundraising performance
- Implement departmental research and donor tracking activities,
including but not limited to:
- developing lists of and researching prospective donors;
- preparing profiles on current and prospective donors; and
- tracking relationships with donors by maintaining both paper and electronic files and utilizing the Raiser’s Edge database.
- Provide high level support and preparation to the CEO and CDO.
- Draft correspondence and gift acknowledgements; other writing and administrative tasks as required.
- Collect information on all JASA programs to integrate with donor management
- Travel regionally as appropriate
- Ensure appropriate assignment, cultivation, and solicitation as assigned
- Performs other related tasks as requested or assigned.
Requirements:
- Bachelor degree required; advanced degree preferred.
- Track record in building effective relationships
- Ability to function with a high degree of independence with donor pool, yet interact collaboratively with colleagues participating in and contributing to total team effort.
- Solutions-oriented, collaborative, self-directed, and self-disciplined
- Highly organized, reliable, and able to set and balance multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Experience with research and prospect identification strategies
- Exceptional verbal and written communication
- Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines
- Capacity to manage and organize information confidentially
- Flexibility to work evenings and weekends when necessary
- Minimum three to five years of progressively responsible development experience
- Working knowledge of the Jewish community and Jewish Federation system a plus. Discretion and ability to handle confidential information with sensitivity and discretion
- Must deal with staff and external parties in a professional and courteous manner
- Knowledge of and/or commitment to geriatric care, health, human services, and/or related fields strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of Raisers Edge preferred.
Compensation:
Rate: Up to $85,000.00 annually
