Position Summary

Advance the mission of United Way of Central Indiana by focusing on creating, maintaining, and optimizing research and analytics strategies and initiatives that support, guide, and enable the organization to thrive and have the strongest opportunity for success. The Director of Fundraising Analytics and Research is responsible for leadership around fundraising analytics, prospect research, and reports that help inform the organizations fundraising strategy.

 

Position Duties & Responsibilities

  • Research & Analytics Leadership: Lead the development and implementation of UWCI fundraising data strategies. Responsible for the quality execution of all strategies, projects, and initiatives of the Fundraising Research & Analytics Team. This includes, but not limited to:
    • Lead and manage fundraising research and analytics projects.
    • Accurate, timely and meaningful reporting of all metrics being tracked by various internal team members and executives, and by key external stakeholders, providing critical data for decision making and tracking of progress.
    • Implementation, execution, and optimization of the CRM database for the department, as well as playing a significant role organization wide.
    • Provide analysis of data and recommendations from findings to improve performance and results of fundraising and engagement efforts.
    • Act as subject matter expert for fundraising research and industry best practices. Create fundraising research and analytics succession plan and strategic plan.
    • Lead the completion of all critical fundraising reporting to the Executive Committee, Board of Directors and United Way Worldwide.

 

 

  • Prospect Research Oversight:  Responsible for guiding the prospect research efforts for both individual, corporate, and foundation prospects. This includes, but not limited to:
    • Provide accurate and meaningful prospect research, both as requested and proactively as opportunities arise.
    • Lead and guide the individual donor portfolio management in partnership with the VP of Major and Transformational Giving and Major Gifts Director.

  

  • Data Integrity and Management:  Responsible for assuring fundraising and engagement data is of great integrity and continually monitor for consistency and quality. Develop and manage processes and efforts to assure the alignment with high and current data standards. Determine accountability measures for data integrity.

 

  • Interdepartmental Relationships: Responsible for the creation and maintenance of inter-departmental relationships that are mutually beneficial and create efficiency and effectiveness organization wide. Key departmental relationships include:
    • IT (CRM needs, opportunities, troubleshooting, monitoring, etc. Focus not only on one-time fixes, but root cause analysis and problem solving, etc.)
    • Finance (Campaign processing, fundraising data accuracy)
    • Marketing (Data informed digital fundraising strategies, prospect list management for direct mail effort)
    • Impact (Integration of fundraising data with impact data for donor interests)

 

  • Leadership: Provide supervision and clear direction for the Manager of Fundraising Prospect Research and Fundraising Research Analyst. Assure coordinated and clear individual and team goals are identified and monitored. Provide guidance and direction to team members while promoting individual thinking and innovation. Regular and meaningful updates with each team member is expected.

 

  • Annual Goals: Achieve established goals. Work with the Chief Strategic Intelligence and Information Officer to ensure goals reflect and align and contribute to the broader goals of the organization.
 

  • Flexibility: UWCI is evolving with our changing external environment. Flexibility and adaptability are key attributes for this position. A willingness to take on additional duties to ensure the success of the team is essential.

 

 

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience

Bachelor's degree is preferred. Four to six years related experience preferred. Thorough knowledge of all aspects of non-profit organizations preferred. Two years supervisory experience required.

Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills, a strong reputation for integrity and professionalism, ability to resolve conflict constructively, strong performance management and evaluation capabilities including the willingness and ability to ensure accountability, ability to build strong relationship both inside and outside UWCI, ability to think strategically, commitment to fostering an inclusive environment consistent with UWCI's commitment to diversity and inclusion. Must have the ability to prepare, explain, and monitor performance, manage a diverse group of donors and volunteers, manage projects and workload, and engage constructively with the other members of the UWCI team.
