The Director of Operations and Systems serves as the chief strategist of the SPLC’s fundraising data systems and works to ensure we deliver an exceptional experience for donors while upholding a high-level commitment to efficiency and accuracy of data and records. The Director of Operations and Systems oversee’s the development departments data systems, back-end operations, gift processing and acknowledgement systems. Operationally, the position strategically develops processes and systems that improve and deliver optimal data analysis and reporting, quality control, internal and external stakeholder customer service and management of back-end operations.

What You'll Do

Manages, evaluates and enhances the operations and procedures of gift processing from mail, wire and online gifts; coordinates with fundraising staff to ensure online marketing efforts are aligned with gift processing; and creates efficient and effective controls for internal processing of donations, including the supervision of staff responsible for these activities

Recommends vendors through competitive bidding and quality screening process; manages and builds vendor relationships to minimize expenditures, maximize data quality and integrity, and implements systems that ensure systems and processes are developed for data transfer that adhere to industry and internal gift process standards

Ensure data systems are in place for efficient and effective flows of data into and out of systems with a focus on the quality of the donor data. This includes implementing automation of data flow and creating implementing procedures for quality control and efficient reconciliation of the fundraising database with financial systems

Manages internal users and the team work work to ensure that the database is complete and accurate and that data imports, uploads, queries, reports and extracts area performed according to established norms and protocols

Manages relationships with key external analysis partners, including external modelers, data co-ops, and data append services to effectively apply data to inform strategy, metrics and administrative decisions

Works with the Application Delivery Manager to ensure proper workflows, documentation, and standard processes exist to improve efficiency and accuracy of data entry and data flow between internal and external systems and participates in interdepartmental database strategic planning

Designs and maintains telephone system groups to ensure a positive donor experience Coordinates logistics for all operational needs in the Development and Fundraising departments;

Manage a team of approximately five staff, providing mentoring and coaching to support the work;

Hire, train, establish and monitor staff performance and development goals, assign duties, and conduct performance reviews

Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties in this job classification


Minimum Qualifications

Minimum of 10 years of experience in Customer Relations Management systems and operations, preferably at non- profit organization;

Minimum of 5 years of managing staff in back-end operations and systems management; and High School Diploma or GED.


Compensation & Benefits

This is an exempt role and the minimum starting salary is $144,175 annually. Salary will be commensurate with

Where and How You'll Work

This role the following work designations options:

Local Remote: Will work remotely, but is expected to attend work-related activities that occur at the SPLC offices or in the states in which the SPLC operates.

Telework: Will work at an SPLC office at least three days per week and may work two days per week from an alternative work location.

Other Special Considerations

This job is performed under general office conditions and is not subject to any strenuous physical demands or dangerous conditions.
