PBS Wisconsin is seeking a Membership Services Specialist to join the team responsible for cultivating the support of the 75,000 members whose contributions make up our single largest source of revenue each year. Reporting to the Development Data Operations Manager, the Membership Services Specialist contributes to PBS Wisconsin's fundraising success by recording donations in an accurate and timely manner, updating member records and pledges in our database, assembling mailings, and carrying out data hygiene tasks. This position also serves as part of Wisconsin Public Media's Audience Services team, the organization's front line of communication with viewers of PBS Wisconsin, listeners of Wisconsin Public Radio and other engaged community members. During designated Audience Services support hours, the Membership Services Specialist answers questions from the public about programming, membership, reception and technical issues over the phone and via email, and may greet in-person guests in Vilas Hall.

Attention to detail, commitment to positive communication and the ability to learn new software, technical procedures and business rules are essential to success in this role. The Membership Services Specialist must be able to work effectively both with a team to accomplish shared goals, and independently to complete tasks and projects with minimal direct oversight.



Performs a wide range of administrative, operational, and special project functions related to a unit's fundraising and business support activities.

  • 25% Serves as a point of contact to members and colleagues and assists with inquiries in accordance with established fundraising best practices, policies, and procedures, either on the phone or in person
  • 25% Processes financial transactions, following established policies and procedures to ensure accurate recording, reporting, and reconciliation
  • 5% Troubleshoots technical and collaborative functions to maximize the efficiency and efficacy of the unit
  • 15% Analyzes financial and/or inventory data, reports and records, identifies discrepancies, investigates, recommends, and implements basic solutions as needed
  • 5% Collaborates with colleagues to contribute to unit planning and strategy
  • 5% Engages in, or oversees training, answers questions, and serves as a resource to the unit
  • 10% Serves as a resource for viewers and listeners about questions about Wisconsin Public Media on the phone and via email
  • 5% Accurately enter, edit, format, and interpret constituent information in member database, following established policies and procedures
  • 5% Print and assemble in-house mailings to members and other constituents
