The Director of Health Professions Advancement and Alumni Relations is charged with engaging alumni and securing private and corporate gifts for the university’s health professions programs – Kentucky College of Osteopathic Medicine (KYCOM), Kentucky College of Optometry (KYCO) and Tanner College of Dental Medicine (TCDM). The primary responsibility is to meet or exceed annual and multi-year fundraising goals by identifying, cultivating, soliciting, securing, and stewarding prospects and donors capable of individual gifts in excess of $10,000.
This position is actively engaged in establishing long-term partnerships and strengthening existing relationships with alumni, vendors, corporate and community partners, and other key industry leaders that will result in funding for immediate and long-term goals for the benefit of the graduate programs.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Work within a comprehensive institutional advancement strategy.
- Plan and execute a development plan, which includes identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of donors and potential donors while working independently and/or collaboratively with volunteers.
- Plan and execute alumni engagement events, communications and other initiatives for Kentucky College of Osteopathic Medicine (KYCOM), Kentucky College of Optometry (KYCO) and Tanner College of Dental Medicine (TCDM).
- Develop strategic relationships among faculty, staff, alumni, volunteers, friends, students, and campus colleagues that result in effective partnerships and increased philanthropy.
- Meet or exceed annual fundraising goals specified for amount raised, contacts, number of successful solicitations, etc. Goals include: 200 to 300 qualified prospects, 15-30 weekly touch points, 8-10 monthly face-to-face visits, 5-8 events annually, and an annual solicitation goal of 75-100.
- Document contacts and adhere to policies and procedures for accepting, recording and acknowledging gifts.
- Work closely with Alumni, Advancement and Public Affairs offices to maximize the fundraising potential of the university through participation in events or meetings.
- Perform stewardship activities for gifts to KYCOM, KYCO and TCDM.
- Be results-oriented and embody professional characteristics that include leadership, commitment to confidentiality, flexibility, team-orientation, attention to detail and sensitivity to the stewardship of long-term relationships.
- Perform other duties as required or assigned.
Relationships:
Position requires daily contact with alumni, donors, prospective donors, students, UPIKE faculty and staff, and other constituents in order to expand alumni engagement and inspire philanthropic support.
Relationships are maintained through various modes of communication including, but not limited to, e-mail, telephone, written, and person-to-person contact.
Required Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Proven track record – multiple years of fundraising or sales experience required with demonstrated success at meeting annual and/or goals.
- Ability to network and grow relationships, leading to philanthropic support.
- Ability to manage an annual campaign or goals.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, verbally and in writing.
- Positive attitude and flexible approach.
- Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and other computer applications.
- Experience working with basic office equipment, e.g. computer, printer, copier.
