Furthermore, in 2022, Rhode Island College became the first four-year institution of higher learning in Rhode Island to earn federal Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI) status.

Signed into law by Gov. Daniel McKee, the Hope Scholarship offered at Rhode Island College is a transformative opportunity for both the college and the state. This scholarship is a five-year pilot program that makes the final two years of a four-year degree tuition free for eligible Rhode Island students. The Institute for Cybersecurity and Emerging Technologies at RIC, is a new initiative, housed within the School of Business that will position Rhode Island to lead the region in developing highly skilled cybersecurity professionals through certificate, bachelor, and master’s level courses and programming while attracting leading researchers and education professionals to develop practical and policy approaches to current cybersecurity challenges.

Rhode Island College Foundation

The Rhode Island College Foundation is an independent organization dedicated to raising funds for the institution. The Foundation has over $38 million in net assets, and raised over $1.6 million in 2022 through pledges, gifts, grants, and special events revenue. The Foundation also provided over $1.6 million to the school last year in direct support for scholarship, faculty & student research, and capital improvements. More than 490 students received $600,000 in scholarships. In addition, the Foundation’s annual giving day raised over $860,000 dollars with donations received from $1,350 individuals and over 50 organizations.

The Opportunity

Rhode Island College Foundation Board of Directors is seeking a motivated leader to oversee all aspects of the fundraising and gift-receiving activities of the Rhode Island College Foundation including the planning and execution of all the fundraising campaigns. Further responsibilities include analysis of the financial business of the Foundation including investment management and budget development, and supervision of all daily operations. Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Serves as chief executive officer of the Foundation, including preparation of all Foundation Board and committee agendas and minutes, scheduling meetings, and providing support to the Foundation Board of Directors
  • Develops and executes policies and directives of the Foundation’s Board of Directors
  • Develops and implements an integrated, multi-year development strategy for the Foundation in support of and consistent with the College’s strategic plan, continually evaluates progress, and refines the segmentation and customization strategies to increase giving levels
  • Makes policy recommendations to the Board and develops all communication and reports for the Board
  • Plans and directs comprehensive philanthropic programming for the Rhode Island College Foundation including, but not limited to, planned giving, annual funding, event planning, campaign design, collateral development and marketing, external fundraising, and capital campaigns
  • Designs an integrated development communications message that adheres to articulated College priorities and prescribed development objectives
  • Identifies, cultivates, and develops potential donors
  • Serves as director of principal gifts, which may include leveraging the College President, college executives, and members of the board as appropriate to assist with fundraising
  • Develops, leads, and coordinates Foundation events
  • Advises the College President and college executives on the planning and execution of cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship activities
  • Manages the Foundation’s assets and monitors performance in cooperation with the Foundation Investment Committee
  • Prepares and coordinates the annual audit
  • Hires, supervises, evaluates, and coaches Foundation staff and volunteers
  • Oversees scholarship maintenance, selection of recipients, and related scholarship stewardship activities

Occasional Job Functions

  • Performs other related duties as required or as assigned by the Rhode Island College Foundation Board of Directors

Education

  • A Bachelor’s degree in business management or related field (Master’s degree preferred)

Experience

  • A minimum of eight to 10 years of experience in fundraising and executive leadership

Knowledge, Skills & Ability

  • Working understanding of fundraising including campaign planning and implementation
  • Proven success in staff supervision and leadership
  • Ability to facilitate a diverse volunteer base
  • Documented ability and background to direct a multifaceted capital campaign
  • Evidence of initiative and organizational ability
  • Ability to generate and to maintain good interpersonal relationships with professional colleagues and the community in general
  • Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion
  • Knowledge of and ability to manage office and record-keeping procedures
  • Excellent verbal and written skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work with computer-based systems and software including databases
  • Ability to work non-standard hours as needed

Preferred

  • Demonstrated ability with Peoplesoft and BlackBaud
