Since being founded locally in 1985, Make-A-Wish Illinois has granted more than 15,000 wishes and continues its mission to share the power of a wish with children in all 102 counties across the state.

Job Summary: 

Responsible for the oversight and direction of the Corporate Giving program (including local corporate gifts, sponsorships, and national partnerships with Make-A-Wish America) to reach an overall goal of $3-$4 million. Develops programmatic solutions to support the Fund Development Strategy. Manages a team of gift officers in pursuit of increasing revenue in an efficient and sustainable manner. Independently develops and manages a portfolio of high-impact corporate relationships.  


Major Responsibilities: 

  • Creates a comprehensive strategy for building a pipeline of corporate supporters in order to meet or exceed corporate revenue goals including the development of a suite of programs to engage new supporters. 
  • Partners with Make-A-Wish America to identify and solicit national corporate prospects. Independently develops relationships with prospective local corporations to align with engagement opportunities. 
  • Develops appropriate cultivation strategies for each prospect involving work place giving, cause marketing, corporate sponsorship, high profile in-kind and events as appropriate 
  • Leads and manages a team of corporate giving officers towards the successful achievement of revenue goals 
  • Directs the implementation of national corporate giving programs at the local level 
  • Works directly with Board members to identify corporate prospects within their networks and develop a partnered approach for engagement 
  • Uses existing systems and processes to track donor/prospect activity and establishes shared accountability for the Corporate Giving team to utilize systems 
  • Represents the Foundation at fundraising events 
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned 



Required Skills and Abilities: 

  • Proven record of successful corporate relationship building and goal attainment 
  • Superior relationship building skills 
  • Excellent written, verbal and public speaking communication skills 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and database utilization, preferably Raiser’s Edge 
  • Excellent organization and project management skills  

Preferred Education and Experience: 

  • Bachelors Degree 
  • 5-7 years’ experience in corporate fundraising with both national and local campaigns
