THE OPPORTUNITY:
Reporting to the Director, Annual Giving, the Associate Director, Annual Giving is a lead fundraiser for the mid-level giving program (Partners in Progress), actively managing a portfolio to cultivate, solicit and steward leadership annual giving donors ($1,000-$10,000). As a member of PanCAN’s Development team, the Associate Director will work closely with the Director and other team members to develop effective fundraising strategies, deepen relationships with mid-level supporters, and close gifts to meet fundraising goals.

The Associate Director will develop, implement, and oversee solicitation and stewardship strategies to engage mid-level donors through various channels to deepen their financial support of PanCAN’s mission. The Associate Director will manage a large portfolio of mid-level giving donors as well as the greater unassigned pool of Partners in Progress. The Associate Director has experience and is skilled in working both with external and internal stakeholders, donors, volunteers and other constituents. This position will be responsible for growing revenue from mid-level donors. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Work closely with the Director, Annual Giving to implement the annual strategy and serve as a frontline gift officer for cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship for PanCAN’s “Partners in Progress” mid-level giving program ($1,000 - $10,000).
  • Manage a portfolio of mid-level annual giving supporters by personally cultivating, stewarding and soliciting donors and prospects to retain and upgrade gifts through email, personal notes, calls, virtual and in-person meetings.
  • Collaborate within the development team on the strategy and plan for solicitation, stewardship, and cultivation to engage and grow the mid-level donor segment including highly personalized direct marketing efforts.
  • Closely monitor and evaluate program performance against targets and adjust plans and strategies accordingly to meet or exceed revenue goals and objectives.
  • Responsible for tracking mid-level giving prospects and donors; documenting cultivation and solicitation activities, and memberships in Raiser’s Edge NXT.
  • Work with the Research and Prospect Management and Major Gift teams to identify and transition higher capacity major gift and donor prospects.
  • Adhere to the highest ethical standards; demonstrate empathetic disposition, and perseverance; reflect optimistic and positive attitude, and convey sensitivity to donor needs.
  • Develop a deep understanding of the organization’s mission and goals to effectively communicate to the giving community.
  • Evaluates success and progress of accomplishing goals and refines business tactics as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS: The following are the minimum qualifications which an individual needs to successfully perform the duties and responsibilities of this position.

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in a fundraising role, preferably with documented experience closing mid-level gifts in the $1,000-$10,000 range.
  • Ensure fundraising goals are met or exceeded, by providing strategy, analyzing progress throughout the year, and working with stakeholders to increase outreach.
  • Outstanding oral and written communication skills, including presentation skills.
  • Commitment to the mission, vision and values of the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network.
  • Must be a highly energetic professional with a track record of building donor relationships and closing gifts.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work with a range of groups, including staff, donors, and volunteers.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast paced, results oriented environment.
  • Excellent organizational skills with a meticulous attention to detail. Strong planning skills including the ability to anticipate tasks, set priorities, meet deadlines and function smoothly under strict deadlines and shifting priorities.
  • Ability to exercise initiative and accept responsibility to work proactively and with minimum supervision.
  • Ability to work independently and within a remote team environment.
  • High degree of professionalism is essential.
  • Travel and weekend work required at times.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook; familiarity with Raiser's Edge or other CRM highly preferred.

Salary Range: ($95 - $120k) PanCAN is committed to providing fair and transparent employee pay.  Our compensation policy and practices integrate years of relative experience, skills, job duties, functions, responsibilities, education, certifications, expertise, PanCAN seniority, position/title, department, market conditions, and merit, and may also include geographic location. Our base salaries range from Entry level to Experienced and max at Expert level. The base pay range included herein is specific and germane to the job/position/opening as described within this announcement.
