Voyageurs Conservancy is seeking a qualified and enthusiastic candidate to join our team as our Development Director to help execute the Conservancy’s events and donor membership program and advance annual fundraising strategies. The position offers a unique opportunity to build our philanthropic impact for Voyageurs National Park. This position reports to the Executive Director. 

  • Develop and implement annual development plans to achieve revenue goals from members, major donors, corporations, and businesses.

  • Manage outreach, cultivation, and stewardship of Voyageurs Conservancy’s donor portfolio.

  • Lead and oversee fundraising and engagement events, including the Spring Thaw annual gala event.

  • Manage special giving campaigns and partnerships, including Give to the Max Day.

  • Manage development-related communications strategy and oversee implementation with vendors (website, newsletters, brochures, e-newsletters, annual reports).

  • Coordinate with the Executive Director, Board of Directors, and volunteers in development efforts.

  • Update and manage Donor Recognition Plan and Legacy Giving.

  • Develop solicitation and engagement strategies for active and lapsed donors, volunteers, and targeted groups.

  • Oversee development operations, including CRM database management.

  • Prepare fundraising reports and research major funding opportunities.

  • Act as a spokesperson for Voyageurs Conservancy at various events and engagements.

  • This position is supervised by Voyageurs Conservancy’s Executive Director and works closely with the Conservancy Board of Directors.

    LOCATION: Twin Cities, Minnesota preferred. Virtual-flexible within Minnesota, with travel to or proximity to development activities and events.

    Voyageurs Conservancy is based in Minneapolis and also has office space at Voyageurs National Park’s headquarters in International Falls.

  • Compensation: $65,000 - $73,000, depending on experience.

  • Comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, dental, and Simple IRA match.

  • 144 hours of Paid Time Off (PTO) per calendar year.

  • Ten paid holidays.

  • Flexible schedule with virtual and in-office hours permitted.

  • Working Conditions: 

  • Physical Environment: Typical office setting and home office.

  • Occasional travel within Minnesota and the Voyageurs National Park area, with some overnight trips.

  • Occasional evenings and weekends required for events.

  • Flexibility and work-life balance valued.

  • Minimum five years relevant experience in nonprofit philanthropy and communications with demonstrated leadership.

  • Experience successfully managing relationships with donors and partners.

  • Proficiency in donor data management.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and communication abilities.

  • Experience in developing fundraising messaging, strategies, and events.

  • Knowledge of current trends in giving.

  • Personal commitment to the outdoors, with experience in national parks, conservation, or related field preferred.

  • Capacity to have fun and be flexible.

  • Comfort working as part of a small team in an evolving organization.
