PRIMARY DUTY: The Vice President of University Advancement oversees the offices of Development and Alumni Relations. Integrating fund and alumni engagement, the Vice President of University Advancement promotes the image, reputation, and competitive advantage of the University. This position reports directly to the President and serves on the Northwest Leadership Team.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Serves as the key external voice for University Advancement and as such, provides key oversight of all strategic fundraising activities and capital campaign initiatives for the University
  2. Serves as the Executive Director of the Northwest Foundation, Inc. and provides leadership for Northwest Foundation and provides for partnering experiences with the Foundation and university entities
  3. Is responsible for alumni engagement and as such, provides integrated experiences regarding alumni relations and oversees alumni/donor database/web technologies and volunteer engagement
  4. Manages in a team-based, employee empowered environment and provides oversight for appropriate fiscal management and operations/long-term planning
  5. Provides overall people management functions related to advancement personnel
  6. Works collaboratively with all Northwest Leadership Team members and all portfolios within the Northwest leadership structure
  7. Serves on university teams as assigned
  8. Performs other duties as assigned

 

REQUIREMENTS:

        Education: Bachelor’s degree

        Certification/Licensure: Driver’s license         

        Experience: Experience in capital campaigns, cultivation of and success with leadership gifts and planned giving, along with familiarity with not-for-profit organizations and volunteer management; five years of related experience

Skills: Ability to make multi-level decisions; superior interpersonal, organizational, communication, and management skills; proven leadership ability; passion for focusing on student success via advancement functions and providing an engagement platform for friends and alumni of Northwest Missouri State University; commitment to performance excellence/continuous improvement of advancement operations; ability to interact effectively with a variety of constituents internally and externally and represent the university in a variety of settings

 

 

WORKING CONDITIONS: This position will work the hours of 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with an hour lunch break. This position will require additional hours during nights and weekends, as well as travel. This position must purchase and maintain a cellular device and service that will be used for work functions. This position must be responsible for plan choices, calling areas, service features, terminations clauses, and paying for all charges associated with the cellular device and service.

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Directly supervises all staff members within the offices of Development and Alumni Relations                                      

 

TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Ability to lift up to 20 pounds
