Position Purpose:  The Development Operations Manager will manage and optimize organizational development operations and processes to support development, operations, communications and marketing activities.

Job Summary:  Responsible for quality data and systems management. Working with operations, accounting, development and marketing/communications team members, the successful candidate will support in-house functions including, but not limited to: acknowledgments; database management; donor gift reports; hardcopy and digital donor and prospect lists; coordinating newsletters, appeal mailings, other related mailings and emails; foundation and corporate grant reporting; prospect research; special events support. The Development Operations Manager will also be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining systems that ensure the successful and effective implementation of the department’s development and marketing and communications plan.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Database management including accurate and timely gift and donor data entry.
  • Ensure data integrity and hygiene to support data driven activities.
  • Create, update, and maintain policies and procedures for development database systems including standard operating procedures, naming conventions, campaign hierarchy, etc.
  • Serve as the subject matter expert on use of Raiser’s Edge related to development activities.
  • Create, maintain, and improve data transfer systems between Raiser’s Edge, online fundraising and email platforms.
  • Manage gift processing, including online donation process.
  • Create and execute acknowledgement letters and pledge reminders as needed.
  • Produce regular and ad-hoc reports for development, operations, and accounting to ensure effective tracking and management of donations.
  • Create customized reports for individual team members to ensure proper tracking and follow up of donors.
  • Conduct prospect research as needed.
  • Coordinate data analytics activities in conjunction with the development team.
  • Coordinate data sharing with other departments including operations, accounting, communications and marketing.
  • Work with marketing and communications to pull mailing and email lists.
  • Manage foundation and grant reporting as needed.
  • Maintain proficiency with database systems and identify and recommend opportunities to improve systems.
  • Perform other related duties, as assigned.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree (BA) from four-year college or university or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 2-5 years’ experience in a development operations or related role.
  • Experience with donor databases, with a strong preference for Raiser’s Edge.
  • Experience with online fundraising platforms.
  • Experience creating systems to share information between databases.
  • Experience with creating and customizing reports.

  • Strong organizational, administrative and strategic planning skills.
  • Working knowledge of and experience with MS Office software, and an ability to learn new tools and applications quickly.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively organize and coordinate multiple priorities.
  • Problem solving abilities paired with excellent judgment.
  • Ability to train and answer questions from non-technical users.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Ability to travel, as required.
