Empire Health Foundation (EHF) believes communities hold the solutions to the most pressing issues they face, and the foundation is dedicated to a community-centered approach to building healthy and thriving communities in eastern Washington. EHF is a private health conversion foundation formed in 2008 with philanthropic assets of approximately $103M, including $20M designated as a 501(c)(4). At an exciting moment of organizational transformation, EHF now seeks a Senior Finance Director to provide leadership and oversight to a strong finance department that supports long-term, organizational sustainability and mission impact.
Reporting to the President, the Senior Finance Director will manage and supervise a team of three staff focused on all financial, risk, and compliance matters across the foundation’s entities. They will work closely with the President and Finance Committee to ensure best-in-class financial operations and support collaborative efforts to develop and implement impact investing initiatives. They will regularly assess the finance team structure to ensure alignment with the strategic plan and organizational capacity and will ensure a robust partnership with impact investing consultants and the foundation’s investment managers. They will manage and develop innovative systems, processes, and policies to enable the strategic use of resources and investments to catalyze and sustain positive change in partnership with the communities EHF serves.
The Senior Director will be a hands-on, proven financial leader drawn to EHF’s mission of advancing health equity among BIPOC, LGBTQ+, people with disabilities, and rural and tribal communities. They will be a strong people manager and collaborative leader who is committed to robust financial operations, transparency, and balanced risk and compliance in a 501(c)(3) and (c)(4) organization and will understand and convey how mission and impact are reflected in effective budget and financial management. The new Senior Finance Director will join a fantastic team at a moment of transformational change and will be an important contributor to leveraging the entirety of the foundation's resources in support of communities most impacted by inequities and injustice.
