International Arts and Artists (IA&A) is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting cross-cultural understanding and exposure to the arts internationally. IA&A fulfills its mission by providing programs and services to artists, arts institutions, cultural organizations, and the public. IA&A's programs include traveling exhibitions, cultural exchanges, educational workshops, and professional development opportunities.

Position Summary

The CRDO is responsible for overseeing all aspects of IA&A's revenue generation. This includes a portfolio of earned revenue divisions including marketing and sales of global traveling exhibitions, marketing and sales of exchange and visa programs, and venue rental and sponsorships.  The philanthropic oversight includes fundraising, grants, corporate sponsorships, memberships, and special events.

The CRDO works closely with the Chief Executive Officer, the Chief Operating Officer, the heads of each implementing division, and the Board of Trustees to develop and implement strategies to increase and diversify IA&A's revenue sources and achieve its financial goals. The CRDO also manages development and marketing professionals who support the revenue functions.


    Lead the development and execution of a comprehensive revenue plan with goals that align with IA&A's mission, vision, values, and strategic priorities. Oversee traveling exhibition marketing teams and ensure sales metrics meet annual goals and expectations. Work closely with the Director of Traveling Exhibitions to ensure the pipeline of projects, pricing, and other information is shared properly and openly between sales and implementation teams. Support and monitor cultural exchange division’s sales and marketing of programming and visa services. Identify and solicit opportunities for corporate or private funding to underwrite traveling exhibitions, cultural exchange programs, or Hillyer gallery activities. Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward relationships with current and potential donors, funders, sponsors, members, and partners. Oversee the preparation and submission of grant proposals and reports to foundations, corporations, government agencies, and other funding sources; including direct grant writing and oversight of grant writing personnel. Manage the planning and execution of fundraising events and campaigns, including annual giving, major gifts, planned giving, and capital campaigns. Develop and implement strategies to increase membership retention and acquisition, as well as member engagement and satisfaction. Develop Board giving policy and work closely with the CEO to ensure 100% Board Giving. Supervise the creation and distribution of marketing and communication materials that promote IA&A's brand identity, programs, services, and impact. Monitor and analyze revenue performance and trends, and prepare regular reports and forecasts for internal and external stakeholders. Establish and maintain policies, procedures, systems, and best practices for revenue management and compliance. Recruit, train, mentor, and evaluate revenue staff, and foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, accountability, and excellence.


    - Bachelor's degree in a related field; master's degree or equivalent preferred
    - Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in revenue generation for non-profit organizations; experience in arts and culture sector a plus
    - Proven track record of securing significant gifts from individuals, foundations, corporations, government agencies, and other sources
    - Demonstrated ability to develop and implement effective revenue strategies that align      with organizational goals and mission
    - Excellent communication, presentation, negotiation, and relationship-building skills
    - Strong leadership, management, and supervisory skills
    - High level of creativity, initiative, integrity, professionalism, and attention to detail
    - Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with CRM software (e.g., Salesforce) preferred
    - Knowledge of international arts and cultural issues; passion for IA&A's mission

The incumbent is expected to work in the Washington, DC headquarters on a regular basis. Occasional travel and evening/weekend obligations will be expected.
