For 50 years,
Ronald McDonald House Charities has focused on caring
for families so they can care for their children. In 1974, the
first Ronald McDonald House opened to give families a place to stay
when they came to Philadelphia, PA, for their child's medical care.
Co-founder and pediatric oncologist Dr. Audrey Evans knew caring
for and supporting the whole family when a child was sick was
essential. Soon, this concept was replicated around the country.
When the second Ronald McDonald House opened in Chicago in 1977, it
birthed a global movement to care for families throughout their
child's healthcare journey. Today, Ronald McDonald House Global
Charities operates 690 programs in 62 countries.
Augusta’s RMHC Chapter opened its first House in 1984 to
help families of critically ill children. The current beautiful
multi-story, 23-bedroom House opened in 2015 and serves over 1,000
families each year, providing a safe, warm, and loving place for
families to sleep, eat, and receive emotional support from caring
professionals. The Augusta House is just steps from the Children's
Hospital of Georgia.

Augusta's values of leading with compassion, demonstrating deep
