The University invites applications and nominations for the Assistant Vice Chancellor for University Development (Assistant VC), a position that will report to the Associate Vice Chancellor for University Development   The Assistant Vice Chancellor will lead the University Development functions of Central Major Gifts, Gift Planning, and Corporate & Foundation Relations, while also providing guidance, support, and oversight as assigned, for college programs, under the shared-management principles in place as a result of cost-sharing partnerships with the colleges.   The Assistant VC will work with academic leadership, advancement leadership, and senior development staff to formulate and facilitate progress toward aggressive goals for the Central Development groups and with select Colleges/Units to increase overall private support in a strong and decentralized, yet highly collaborative fundraising organization. The Assistant VC may also manage a modest portfolio of major gift prospects and be accountable for meeting annual goals for activity and results.   The Assistant VC for University Development is responsible for ensuring that the University becomes and remains a leader among its peers in best practices in Corporate and Foundation Relations, Gift Planning, and Regional Development. The application of industry best practices customized to the unique characteristics of NC State’s organizational structure will result in ever-increasing levels of private support for the funding priorities of the University.   The Assistant VC will:
  • Work with the Executive Directors of Central Development units and Colleges/Units as assigned, to review and establish accountability measures and leverage systems to track performance against goals.
  • Consult with partners across campus around fundraising initiatives to maximize success.
  • Collaborate with campus partners to understand the programs and priorities across the University and foster broad, coordinated involvement and cooperation in achieving fundraising goals to maximize philanthropic support for the University.
  • Work with University Advancement and University Development leadership to plan for and build the fundraising capacity for the next campaign.
  • Manage a modest portfolio of major gift prospects.
  • Along with the Associate Vice Chancellor, evaluate the effectiveness of fundraising programs; lead in driving necessary enhancements, training, and changes to infrastructure and programs as assigned.
  • Prioritizes and leads structured efforts to celebrate and recognize individual and collective fundraising accomplishments university-wide.
